    Mexican Immigration

I have been assigned to give a presentation on illegal mexican immigration. My report is all wrapped up, but I was curious as to some other peoples opinions or if you guys had some statistics I don't.

So please, share with me your views and ideas.

If you are going to give a statistic, please site your source.

Please don't post if you aren't capable of being mature on the subject.

    Legal or illegal imigration?

For one, there is a system in place that facillitates immigration.

For the other, there is a system in place to allow people to come here whenever they want.

I for one am OK with legal immigration and have no problem with anybody that follows the rules to become a citizen of the US.

I have real problems with people sneaking in and sucking up tax dollars and resources and demanding rights that they havent earned legally.
WOW, sigs. Havent seen these in a while here on AO.

Holy crud!!! I would be suprized to see this thread last long.

I feel that American needs to tighten up the borders and FAST. The economic drain on our country is immense. I feel enough about it to type a really longwinded diatribe. Illegal immigration needs to stop regardless of the source of the problem.

This very nicely gives my view:

"Recently large demonstrations have taken place across the country protesting the fact that Congress is finally addressing the issue of illegal immigration.

Certain people are angry that the US might protect its own borders, might make it harder to sneak into this country and, once here, to stay indefinitely.

Let me see if I correctly understand the thinking behind these protests.

Let's say I break into your house. Let's say that when you discover me in your house, you insist that I leave. But I say, "I've made all the beds and washed the dishes and did the laundry and swept the floors.

I've done all the things you don't like to do. I'm hard-working and honest (except for when I broke into your house).

According to the protesters: You are Required to let me stay in your house. You are Required to add me to your family's insurance plan. You are Required to Educate my kids. You are Required to Provide other benefits to me & to my family (my husband will do all of your yard work because he is also hard-working and honest, except for that breaking in part).

If you try to call the police or force me out, I will call my friends who will picket your house carrying signs that proclaim my RIGHT to be there.

It's only fair, after all, because you have a nicer house than I do, and I'm just trying to better myself. I'm a hard-working and honest, person, except for well, you know, I did break into your house

And what a deal it is for me!!!

I live in your house, contributing only a fraction of the cost of my keep, and there is nothing you can do about it without being accused of cold, uncaring, selfish, prejudiced, and bigoted behavior.

Oh yeah, and I DEMAND that you learn MY LANGUAGE!!! so you can communicate with me.

Why can't people see how ridiculous this is?!"

If simply trying to better ones self is grounds to allow them to break the law then I will be headed to the nearest bank with gun in hand to "better myself".

the problem with the idea that they are just trying to better themselves is that they are still breaking the law. and not just by crossing the border.

most jobs require a social security number for employment. ever have your identity stolen? ever try to fix it?

besides that, its a huge tax on our local government. It's crippling our education system in SoCal. You know how hard it is for a class to progress when less than half have English as their primary language?

Look up some statistics on what percentage of the jail population is illegal in Los Angeles. or how about the ethnic cleansing going on by the gangs. but jesse jackson wont talk about that, because it doesn't involve whites.

And than theres the hospitals. Try waiting 8 hours to get into an emergency room. Look at how many emergency rooms have shut down due to financial burdens (ie non paying customers)

than theres the whole security issue of having our borders wide open.

some studies have shown it costs the feds 10 billion a year.

so lets see, it costs us billions, taxes our emergency, police, education to the breaking point, and increases crime, among other things

i'm all for legal immigration. my parents waited years to come to the US legally. sorry, no cutting inline, wait your turn.

My personal stance.. We should do the following

                              Make legal immigration easier
                              Make illegal immigration impossible
Use financial benefits of said steps to invest in other countries, so they don't need to move here in the first place (unless they simply want to)
                              Lo
