looking to put a sub in my truck

Ive got a extended cab dodge ram and was wondering if anyone knew the best way to fit a amp in the truck. All im thinking of is just throwing it on the seat behind me since most of the time no one is sitting behind me.

Also any suggestions for a sub and amp are welcome, keep it under 300 but willing to go to 400

Hold that thought. Let me talk to my brother. He rips out aftermarket systems from cars and trucks and returns them to stock systems so he can sell the cars at metro auto auction. He can give you a deal on used premium stuff.

Also mounting amps: Under the center seat is where mine is, But I'm thinking of mounting to the back wall. But I have a standard cab dodge.

Plenty of room to slide a amp under it. I'll talk to my bro tonight to see what he has basically laying around.

EDIT: just got off the phone with him he's deep in "gutting" this repo gangsta mobile his boss picked up at auction with a system that will rattle your teeth, 20 inch rims, deep window tint, on a 84 Cadallic. Found a PS3, two 22 inch rims, three 40's of Old English in the trunk probably all stolen.

Jl is garbage compared to some of the other brands out there. Everyones in love with them because they make alot of noise and are fairly forgiving on box displacement. Your going to have a hard time beating memphis in quality, the sub is really dictated by your goals and how big of a box your willing to go with.

I got 2 Fosgate 12" subs mounted in a custom box I built in the middle of my rear seat of my F-350.

I have a 1600 watt amp pushing them.

                      The truck rumbles.

im just looking to put like a single 10 or 12 behind the drivers side seat. I dont want to take up too much room cause i still have to be able to have room for people to sit.

What to choose depends on what your goals are. What do you want the sub to do for you? Also... you're going to be limited on options with that sort of budget...

Without knowing this info, I'm going to generically suggest looking into a powered Bazooka tube, Kicker Bass-Station (if they still make them), or something similar. This gets you a compact amp, sub, enclosure in one convenient package for about $300. They're not bad for the price... just gotta keep your expectations reasonable.

Otherwise... get a low-profile Class-D Mono block amp... an enclosure that's appropriate for the amount of space you have in your truck... and an efficient sub that is appropriate for the dimensions of the enclosure. I can't suggest any brands/models because I'm only familiar with competition stuff. Usually budget stuff is not all that different from each other anyway.

Also keep in mind that you need to buy power distribution/speaker cabling and such.

On the seat? Well, you don't want it to become a projectile if you get in an accident. Mounted under the seat usually works out well.

I'm assuming that you have an aftermarket deck, right?

They're not my first choice... but I don't think they're garbage.

ive got an aftermarket JVC deck already. that budget is something i really just threw out there. I dont wanna spend a whole lot more but i suppose i could go a little higher. And i may throw it behind my seat on the floor but im not sure if there will be enough room there.
