ABUs are better than ACUs just because we get to sew our stripes and tapes and everything on- I think the velcro on ACUs look pretty dumb. I see enough of them, I'm here on the AF detatchment in Aberdeen Proving Grounds-an Army base... If I counted the number of times I heard Hooah in a day, it would most likely be in the 4 digits.

The new ABU (Airman Battle Uniform) release has been quite beneficial imho.
since its release you can certainly pick the ate up brown-nosers from the average Airminion. Also there is a sect of average airminions who have opted to go out of pocket to pick up the new green maintenance free boots in effort to slack off on another part of their uniforms while not buying into the whole "suburban camo" look that Warwitch mentioned above.

mm. Good ol' BDUs. I kinda like the look of the ABUs, but I'm with you. I'm not gonna don them for a while. What's your AFSC? I'm training here in Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD-Army post for ordinance training, mainly. I'm training for Aircraft Metals Tech. Good stuff. Did you know that this is the place the Abrams tank was developed and built? I thought that was kinda cool.Comment

If I told you, I'd have to kill you. Just kidding. I don't have a clue. Strong stuff. I think it might be magic. It's kinda cool though, I get to hear them shoot all the time. My dorm is about 1.5 miles away, and it rattles the windows. You know that knocking in your chest when you shoot a rifle? You get some of that sometimes. Cool stuff.

uh no...
The M1's still use the Chobam armor and they fire a shell that depleted uranuim warhead for better armor penetration. Much like the 30mm shell the A-10's use
Chobam armor is still classified to this day (according to the military channel show I saw on it)
go to FAS.org you can read thru stuff there.Comment

M1A1/2 Abrams main battle tank is manufactured by General Dynamics Land Systems (GDLS). The first M1 tank was produced in 1978.
I don't think the M1A1 went to DU until the HA variant, but the A1s and A2s are definatly DU now.The M1A1 tank incorporates steel-encased depleted uranium armour. Armour bulkheads separate the crew compartment from the fuel tanks.
But you were correct, DU is also used for sabot round penetrators for the tank main guns, as well as other other ammunition (30mm).Comment
