This peaves me off a lot. If you have been in the military, you know you don't fart without your higher ups kowing about it. The fact that the Army and our Government sat idle as lower ranking enlisted went to jail while the officers and those in the Government that ordered the treatment of the prisoners get off is total and utter crap. Oh well, guess the E4 that master minded all the torture got what she deserved

I was in the army and now im in the navy and i agree with you. You cant piss without someone above you knowing and approving it so this is goverment coverup bs. But on the other hand she could have said no and blew the wistle on her chain of command. It doesnt suprise me that the officer got off. At least his career is over in any case. He will probably get early retirement wich is bs but at least he will be out of the picture.

I did 5 years in the Navy, and once I screwed up (a paper work thing, but still coulda had serious trouble), and the Duty Officer wrote me up. The only reason I didn't go to NJP was because I was following orders (which ironically enough, disobaying orders was what I was written up on), and the CO figured that under the circumstances he'd have to punish trhe duty officer if he punished me. And this CO was notorius for protecting his fellow Academy grads. Crap like that was half the reason I didn't re-enlist.

Rock on, sometimes the flight officers would rather turn a blind eye to some sketchy stuff so that they can plead ignorance. In my experience as long as you dont rape, kill, drive under the influence, or piss red they don't give a damn. Then again you have your micro-managers which will be why I won't reenlist. Can you believe they laughed at me when I gave them my two weeks notice???

Ahhhh, memories...

The thing is, alotta the kids that make up the enlisted force (and the younger officers) are just that- Kids. They are legally adults but many have no moral compass and simply look to those around and immediately above them for guideance. The fact remains you are, or will become like those you most associate with. I can totally see how a single "shift", or group of soldiers could do this on their own without their command having knowlege.

I had a strong parental upbrining & was fortunate to work with a bunch of good people in my military career, and I'd like to think i'da had the guts to stop somthin like that if I ever saw it. But lotsa people dont know what "wrong" is, and are very good at doing it without getting caught.
