just got back from it... still sort of motion sick
personally I think it was brilliant, and is a revelation in the survival horror genre. The movie reinvents the "big monster thrash" from the first person perspective and corrects the major error of this genre by refocusing the premise on what is really important, the personal experience of terror while surviving horror. Also I think it is important to consider the budget that went into making this flic, cloverfeild was produced for 30 million, compared to the 130 million the 1998 godzilla film (that sucked) that is generally considered the worst monster thrash of them all.
however, I feel the mouthbreathing masses will bash the movie because it was not "godzilla enuf" for them and cannot get past the concept that the movie does not cater to what they wanted to see. Also they will not understand that the primary focus of the movie is on the characters struggle to live and not feel closure without some sappy "everything is going to be all right" ending you normally get with the godzillafaire.
I give it 5 Dramamine tablets out of 5.

Hey, just saw it.
That was a messed up movie. It was well done, I'm not saying it was a bad movie. it was just diffrent. The good guys didnt win, and ya knew it from the first frame.
The theater was silent at the end.
I have to say if there was a remote possibility of this really happening... I would be messed up, and not sleeping tonight.
It was weird. that was an original, I have never seen anything like that movie. It was kinda like "the birds" as far as the small scale point of view... but. Word.
It's worth seeing.

On another note!
The only reason I went tonight was to see the new startrek teaser! OMG! I love it. IT WAS EYE CANDY FOR TREKKIES! This may be the "batman begins" for startrek movies. oh... I hope its on youtube now.
EDIT: AHHHH cant find it yet. It was amazing. even non startrek people were in awe.
yeah this was in it...

It was for me.Originally posted by Lohman446If its obvious from the beginning its not a spoiler
I haven't even watched the trailers yet...I try to avoid them and just get the consensus and summary from rottentomatoes before I buy movies so I can avoid any possible spoilers. I hate watching a suspenseful movie and thinking to myself..."Haven't seen that scene where they're running in the field yet, so noone dies..."Comment

I thought it was a great movie, but then again, I'm one of the OCD people who's been following this on the internet since the trailer came out. My original AO Cloverfield thread:
Our off topic forum. (You mean there are things other than paintball??) Please keep your posts civil, and refrain from topics that are likely to start problems. (NOTE: Any thread may be closed for any reason.)
So I think it might have been more rewarding for me to finally see it, then the people who, when the movie ended as abruptly as it did, yelled out "Are you serious?!", as I sat there thinking, wow that was a good ending.Comment
