Guitar Hero III - I picked this up because I thought it might be fun for my son's 9th birthday (he's so anxious for his 10th so he can play paintball with me it ain't funny).

Anyway, this game is freaking awesome and very consuming. Playing about 20 songs on easy settings has brought out ALL of the minor injuries my hands have ever sustained and I think I might be developing some carpal tunnel in my fingers for sure... this game is fun.

I got it for our Wii and it's fun as all get out. I'll be posting a video of the boy playing, too. I tried real hard to share his present with him.

I got it for the Wii for my boys at xmas. It is fun no doubt. Haven't played it in awhile. Hard or expert?? Ya right no chance lol. Medium? I rock!

On another note, my now 13 year old started playing when he was 9 1/2 years old. I have a 7 and 5 y/o and my GF has a 2 y/o. When they get old enough to play, its really gonna hurt the wallet!! Can you say stock class??

A couple friends, GH3 or Rock Band, and a case of beer makes for a darn good time. Except for the flimsy guitar and high price, Rock Band is actually a bit better than GH.

Exactly the same situation here. I have done a few songs perfect on Medium, but can't get through the start of any song on Hard.

My son keeps doing the dragonslayer song on hard with the xbox 360 controller.

Never have the words "if i hear that song one mor time I'll scream" had more meaning.

And +1 for the dragonforce song. I've heard the first half of the song about a million times. My best is 67% on expert. It's tough. I don't think it's as hard as jordan from guitar hero 2 though. The huge guitar hero 3 timing window makes most songs significantly easier.

III has a larger timing window? Larger? Crap, i'm glad I started with this one then.

Really i find 3 harder then 2, and rockband is the easiest of the 3. i couldnt play any songs on hard for #3. 2 i could beat about half, and i finished rockband on hard

Well, I made it through all 42 songs on Easy, with an average of 92% and 3.8 stars in about 4 hours of playing. I need to get better at not letting the star power move screw up my playing.

Off, to practice the few songs I didn't score well on, and get everything above or about 95% before I try medium. The fourth finger does NOT want to cooperate at all! But I am definately thinking about getting out the ripped denim jacket and spandex for effect. Do you get extra points for dressing the part?

I'm debating getting GH3 for my dormate's 360. I've already got the guitar, and basically can use his 360 whenever. I have GH3 for pc, but can't play it on my laptop at college, so can only play it when I go home for a weekend or something. I'm stuck with the frets on fire emulator... which sucks btw.

But yes, GH is pretty awesome.

And I believe overall difficulty for 2 vs 3 is reserved for those who can beat Expert to judge. And that's only me on a couple songs... Really, the difference between easy/medium/hard is just adding the fourth and fifth frets. Expert gets challenging.

On hard you have to be able to rapidly transition between singular notes whereas on expert you have to rapidly be able to transition chords. Expert is either a you are physically capable of doing it or you arent kind of thing. I cant. No matter how much I play, theres just no way in hell I could ever play most of the songs on expert.
