    What's Frontpage 2002 Like?

I am considering buying Frontpage 2002. Looks like it might be good for rookie web designers like me .

    What do you guys think?

It is decent, i worked through the entire FrontPage 2000 "n00b book" at school, you know where they teach you how to do everything. I cannot say i was overly impressed...but it did provide the service that you seem to be seeking, heres a simple way of getting it w/o spending the money....MORPHEUS. Need i say more? I have gotten $700 + graphics designing programs off of there, and it cost me not a dime....

I use Frontpage 2k2. From what I hear its pretty limited - but I've been able to do what I wanted to. Simple easy to make pages (www.acidrick.com).

Supposedly Dreamweaver is better. I can't confirm this.

Yeah the only FrontPage I have right now is Frontpage Express that comes with your computer, lol and it sucks pretty hard. How much does it normally cost? 2002?

Personally I wouldn't recommend it if you were wanting something really professional, its not that powerful. A great (the best in my opinion) is Macromedia Dreamweaver 4, good stuff.

The Patriot: yes, Morpheus (KazaA) is great, I've done my fair share of d/l'ing on that, I won't say how much, but you know its illegal? Plus, why do you think prices on software are going up, its because of all the warez, which is readily available due to that. Some of the designers its their only job, thats how they feed their family. Say you did some yardwork for someone or something, and they just don't pay you? Well you have bills to pay, so you up your prices, hoping someone will pay them. No one will, you didn't pay your bills, you're outta house and home, and your dog dies from starvation. Well.. maybe thats a bit exagerated, but you get the idea. The only way it doesn't hurt them, is if you weren't planning on buying it at all, they still have the same consumer base then. *shrug* my 3 cents.

Yeah Crizo's got a point, that's pretty mean. I plan on buying the full version from my local place because then you get all the stuff, manuals, tech support, registration numbers, etc. And then you can upgrade when a newer one comes out too. I had Dreamweaver, but it was way too hard. I couldn't do very much at all with it, you need to know graphics design and stuff like that for Dreamweaver. So I sold that to my friend . I want to get Frontpage 2002 because it's supposed to be like Office programs and easy to use.

Frontpage is nice, I have Frontpage 2000, and I BOUGHT it.

Frontpage itsself is not all the amazing, but you can easily use it in conjuction with other elements and create very nice websites.

I mean you cant do everything in it, you should still learn HTML, how to use Photoshop and Flash. Things like Dynamic Html can also be incorperated for a nice site.

People, get off my back....i just thought he might like a financially conservative way to get it....as for the programmers, most of their sales go to schools and major companies, people buying it is like 10% of their total sales, so a few people bootlegging it wont matter.

If you are going to get a WYSIWYG (What you see is what you get) editor get Dreamweaver. Don't even consider the other programs out there. None of them are as powerfull and as easy to use as DreamWeaver. Frontpage makes you save your index pages named differently than what every web server out there recognizes. It makes you use a microsoft windows server (which also are not that great) which will recgognize the Frontpage extensions. If you are planning on publishing your site look for a linux or mac server. They never crash and the can not get viruses because none have been written for either unix(linux) and Mac's. Windows is known to have the most Viruses written for it out of any operating system out there.

                            Amen brother :)

Absolutely, 100%, go with Dreamweaver. If you learn how to use it properly, you won't need any other editor, EVER. Dreamweaver is put together by a team at Macromedia that knows html and asp editing better than most other people on the web's market today. The features are amazing, there are little if almost no bugs (I've never encountered one), and sooooo many places where you just say to yourself, "that was a really great idea to add that function". So, I say again, stick with DW :)

the frontpage extension can be edited out of the html code very easily though. putting it back to basic, universal script. how do you think i got away with using it for my classes!
