    Camel spiders...

Have you all seen these things!?

Okay.. we have them here in AZ. I have seen quite a few... but they were just scary looking slightly larger than normal bugs.

But in Iraq... these critters are some big mothers.

IDK about you all... but if I saw something like that I would have to put some thought into what kind of 12ga shells to load right before I unloaded on it starship trooper style.

I'm thinking double barrel. One with flichettes and another with slugs. If the flichettes don't drop it then switch to the heavy duty stuff.

I hear tell that tarantulas taste like crab and that crab is its closest relative.

The picture is deceiving, look at the hand in the upper right. These things are big, but nowhere near as big as the picture makes them look.

Yeah, they're big"ish", and they are ugly, but mostly harmless.

We find them all the time in our barracks....but the mice eat them.

We're more scared of the mean mice!

I definitely prefer camel toe over camel spiders.

they them selves are not poisonous but they eat scorpions and other critters that are. so there pincers can have the poison on them along with other NASTY things. look up camel spider bites, youll yack.

They do have poison, just numbing poison. The reason they're called camel spiders is because they climb up to a camel's belly, bite the skin (skin goes numb) and lays its eggs inside the camel. When the eggs hatch, the baby spiders have all the food they need right there. Through all this, the camel is none the wiser. There have been soldiers that wake up with big, gaping wounds from these freakin things. They like darkness, too. One of my buddies said that when he went over there, they would run after you and people would run from them because they thought the thing was after them, but really it was just trying to stay in the shadow.

they are just a little bigger than normal large spiders. they do chase you to stay in your shadows, and youd be surprised that they can move pretty good. they chased our humvees sometimes lol.

we would catch them and pit them against scorpions and mice and lizards, sometimes all 4 in a free for all. man iraq is boring

                      where is az?
