      Loved the games...
Not so happy about a movie being made about what appears to be a revival of "Ocarina of Time"...

I'll probably end up seeing it anyway...
you know you play this game too much when the neighbors stop fixing their broken windows...

I was actualy wondering a little myself. Although it looks too crapy to be taken seriously, it also looks too well made to be a joke. But i'm going with "not a joke" on this one.

I think the chainmail is made of PVC. Nothing compared to my 16 gauge, 1/4" ID skin o' steel.

Did you guys see the chainmail tank cover by any chance? I think it was on the nation, not 100% though.

Glad that's only an April fool's joke - a LoZ movie would be cool, but the costumes/actors in that trailer looked terrible. I still think a Metroid movie would rock.

questionful - nice. I haven't made any mail in years... Still have my bracelet pretty much permanently attached to my wrist, though. It's persian 6-in-1, so it's not historically accurate at all, but still cool looking.

You make your own links? Check out some of the historical stuff, too - much smaller links than we use, often 6-in-1 (or more), and they flattened and riveted each individual link. Talk about time consuming. Speaking of which, I still have a couple of larger mail projects to finish...

bstc - that's probably a few hours to make, assuming he makes his own links. If the links are already made, I'd guess about an hour.

I don't know... the production value is pretty darn high for a prank.
God....I guess I was probably returning videotapes.

Well, it's kinda legit. It's an "independent" fan-fiction film. Here's the website, if you're interested.

This has actually been in works for a while... and it's actually the second major Zelda film that this group has produced, if memory serves.

As for production quality, I would expect it to be pretty impressive. With the advent of CGI and cheap digital cameras, you'd be surprised what a bunch of grown up kids can turn out. (What do you think all those CGI programmers do with their spare time?) It won't look as good as professional stuff, but it will definitely rival production quality from twenty years ago.

This kinda thing is reserved for Zelda, either. If you google "fan film" and Star Trek or Star Wars or anything with a big cult following, you'd be amazed what you can find. Most of it is just kids making little tribute films, but some of it is really impressive. My personal favorite is Raiders of the Lost Ark: The Adaptation, a shot-by-shot mimic of the original, filmed by a bunch of high school kids.

I wouldn't expect a legit Nintendo movie any time in the near future. Their previous attempts at movies (anyone remember the Mario Bros film?) did not go so well, so they have stated that they're not exploring that direction.

Well it makes sense. Video games (with the exception of a select few, such as FFVII) generally don't have the storyline required to make a good movie out of them. The best movies are stories written to be movies, then you get the occasional good movie that came from a book (of which most are horrible). A movie made out of a video game has to invent its own story, while trying to incorporate the fantastic elements that made the original game fun. I don't see how the latter could be accomplished without a SERIOUS amount of digital animation. The only one I think I've seen done well was Advent Children, and that was completely animated.
