Like the title says. After seeing a few "for sale" threads forced by medical bills, i would like to know if you guys are happy on how your healthcare system is running.
Happy with your healthcare system?

To take your post a step further -- you're asking if Americans would rather be taxed like Canadians so we could keep out paintball gear when times get tough?SwallowBleach: It's good for you.

Nope. I enjoy choosing my health care. I do NOT want someone in Washington to decide what hospital I go to, who my doctor is, or what "value" of health care I am eligible for.Originally posted by teufelhundenTo take your post a step further -- you're asking if Americans would rather be taxed like Canadians so we could keep out paintball gear when times get tough?Comment

No, my intention is not to compare both systems and it has little to do with paintball. I just want to hear what you guys have to say about your healthcare system. I'd also like to know why some get the bill and some do not. Is it just because the medical insurance policy didn't cover the injury inflicted?Originally posted by teufelhundenTo take your post a step further -- you're asking if Americans would rather be taxed like Canadians so we could keep out paintball gear when times get tough?Comment

I don't want to get in that debate, but just to make it clear, we choose our hospital and our doctor. What we do not choose is our treatment, everyone gets the same. Again, their is no "value" of healthcare to be eligible for, we are all the same when it comes down to healthcare.Originally posted by MANNNope. I enjoy choosing my health care. I am not 100% familiar with your system in CA. I do know about the system in England. I have worked with several engineers over there who highly dislike their current health care system.Originally posted by michbichI don't want to get in that debate, but just to make it clear, we choose our hospital and our doctor. One thing I do know about Canadians that live close to NY is that there are many who cross the border to go to the hospital. (my aunt who is a nurse in NY sees it everyday).Comment

If mcdonalds started handiing out cheeseburgers Everyone would get one. Even if they were not hungry they would say "hey its free. Why not?". I am afraid that if we get "free" health care we will get the same response. It is bad enough weight at the emergency room as it is. Imagine if they quit charging people.Comment
