there's nothing *wrong* with carbs, my bike has carbs, but I thought they disappeared from sportbikes around 2000. So, I thought the fact that a no-name company released a 2007 sportsbike with carbs was slightly sketchy.

You never do, but you will. Trust me. SOMETHING will happen.
Even if it isnt major, at some point i promise you will accidently drop it, or something.
      Happened to me.

The jerk in front of me slammed on his brakes in the middle of an intersection (we had the green light) because he dropped something on the floor. I grabbed a fistfull of brake myself,. Managed to miss the car, but while sliding at an angle to dodge the car, my back wheel caught the lip of a manhole cover and over i went. Saved the bike at the cost of a sore shoulder and a bruised leg.

Still, you never know when it'll happen, but peopel are stupid, and sometimes that stupid effects you.

      oh!
      I have a 250, and i love it.

[QUOTE=nmib]Stay away from 250's. They are marketed to incompetent buyers and even more incompetent first time riders. Id suggest a Suzuki GS500. Its a great learning bike that is light, easy maneuverable and has some pep.

        ........

thats a bit offensive man. LOL. I have a 250 and love it.

yeah, second the "you say you're not going to lay it down? thats what everyone says before they lay their bike down" sentiment.

when I was first learning to ride i hit a patch of gravel going around a corner, broke a fairing, scuffed up the bike and my knee (walking into work with a shredded pant leg and bleeding knee is... interesting ) and then when i got my next bike, the wind blew it over when the kickstand was up and the bike was on slightly angled pavement >.<

then again, I knew i was probably going to lay my bike down at one point or another from the start

Sorry man, its the truth. Only way a 250 is enjoyable is if youre 5'6" and weigh 120lbs soaking wet.

As far as laying it down.. meh its all a roll of the dice, how you drive and your experience. Ive been riding for 21 years and Im 25yrs old (benefit of growing up in a harely shop!). Ive downed plenty of dirt bikes but never a sports bike, I think Im quite lucky.

Laying down a bike sucks no matter what it is. Whether it's on dirt or asphalt, it still hurts. I am 21 and have been riding bikes since I was 21 months old and have fallen plenty of times and all I can say is asphalt hurts way more. I just went down for the first time on a sport bike in Febuary and it hurt bad. Thank God I'm still alive. If you plan on laying down a bike then all I have to sayis, learn to roll. It may sound wierd but it works wounders and could save your life. Learn to let your body go with it and not resist the fact that you are on the ground. That and tuck your chin to your chest, makes a difference between concusion and broken neck.

At the rate you are shrinking, I think a mini-trail will be in order soon. Are you still 250?

Disagree. IM 5'9" and weigh about 170ish....My 250 is stunningly perfect for me. Its not the fastest by any stretch, but i sure can ride the hell out of it. As i always say, i would rather learn to ride a slow bike fast, than a fast bike slow.

One point i will conceed, if you plan on taking longer trips, using the highway (250 does just fine on the highway...but can be a little high strung) a 250 isnt the best option. Seeing as i ride in town, and on the country roads, the 250 is perfect. I am very happy with my purchase. Still, to each his own i suppose.

I'll keep out since obviously all the experts have spoken.

PM me if you want my take on it. I've got a pretty extensive background on 2 wheels. From currently owning 5, being a RiderCoach, worked in bike shops for 5 years, motorcycle mechanic, have been riding street bikes for 15 years with an average of 20K/year put on.

Anyway... that don't make me a expert but I think I have a fair grasp of what is out there.
