What kind of spider is this?

It looked like it had 3 body segments, but when I chased it down it dropped one off the back. I figure thats it egg sack?

I'm in colorado at about 6500 feet if that helps. I can't find my field guide on spiders.

    Anyone know?

I think that would be a variety of 'wolf' spider; which covers many variations, but most are known to carry their egg sack around with them. They can bite, but at worst you might be allergic. There's some sneaky little spider in my yard that I am allergic to, but I haven't caught one yet.

Lolol...actually my wife gets on to me because I am the spyder crusader. I will go out of my way to keep her from killing them to take them outside.
I am not really afraid of spyders, not that want one on me. I find them pretty facinating...however a wasp or bee is another story. I run and scream like a girl.

I love how he spelled spider like it was the marker. Good stuff.

I also leave spiders alone. Its more respect than anything else. They produce a material that is stronger than anything we can manufacture. Plus all living things are special no matter how big small and ugly they are, they are still alive and need to be respected.

I kept a black widow in a jar for about 8 months. I fed it other spiders, pill bugs, pincher bugs and things like that. It was really cool watching it face of with the other black widows i would put in there. She took out all comers and grew to be quite big.

I found a black widow under an Air Compressor yesterday we weren't real happy to meet each other but I let her live. She had a huge web for just 1 spider.

I wish I had a video of my father playing with a good sized jumping spider on top of a car. He was waving the end of his finger at it and it reared up with its front legs. Faster than we could blink, it covered the two inches to his finger and was going for the take down. He shook it off, but it startled us both.

If a spider happens to crawl out from under the house near our front door, my son will not even go in the house until somebody takes care of it. It's hilarious because he is 19.

On a side note, black widows will jump and bite.
