I wonder if Mr. Keilor understands a good number of those people were exposed to the trials of war more directly than simply reading some book

And how does The Boating Party do a better job of a memorial? Maybe he's just getting...oddly opinionated.

He gets teary-eyed and inspired by looking at a painting of 3 people in a boat.
I get teary-eyed and inspired by looking at a flawless paintjob on a Shelby Cobra.

I think Tom Cruise would call him "glib". LOL

I am not sure what to say about that. As a fellow cyclist I certainly support what the riders were doing showing their support in a way that they know, as well as getting out and having a good time among one another on a holiday. And yes the point is not lost on me that many of these guys flying their flags and POW/MIA flags off their bikes have payed the price for the freedom to be there with the noise and hoopla.

Now from another really narrow and close minded point of view, and especially coming from a non rider I can ALMOST see his point. Being held up watching a group of riders go by making a bunch of racket and clogging things up could be really easy to not understand for someone who just doesn't get it. In my opinion, someone who prefers looking at a 114 year old picture alone to being outside living it up with buddies both present and future and a grand group of people whom you share something in common....just never will get it.

In Washington, D.C., Constitution Avenue is a major east-west street running just north of the United States Capitol in the city's Northwest and Northeast quadrants. The avenue carries heavy commuter traffic on weekdays and heavy tourist traffic on the weekends; it is also an important parade route.
I assume Mr. Keillor has never had any trouble crossing the avenue before?

It took 20 minutes until a gap appeared and then a mob of us pedestrians flooded across the street and the parade of bikes had to stop for us
I seriously doubt regular traffic in D.C. would stop.

If you like serenity Mr. Keillor, get out of the city.

Group biker gatherings are a pain in the butt. Yes, I'm going there.

And for those knocking Halberstam and Ambrose, well, go back to your Ludlum and Koontz and Clancy. Morans.

You know Ricker, there are other places where you can go to be feisty without being moderated so much. You do know its fixed now, right?

Sweet. I was asking Brian about that when I saw him recently.
