    Looking for enlistment statistics.

I was just wondering if anyone knew what percent of new recruits are straight out of HS and what age groups past that? What's the oldest recruit the military takes? Anyone know of an older recruit, it seem you never hear about older guys in the war?

I don't know specifics, but I enlisted iun the Navy in 2000 at age 22 and most were 19-20. There was one guy in my division who was 33 though.

A Navy helo squadron. Well, he's on LIMDU orders and getting out shortly... I don't think he deployed either, so he's been a short timer.

Well, in case anyone else opens this thread.....would it be ridiculous for some one like me (30 yr old, doing everything in life better then average, regretting the fact I never went and just kinda sick of the rat race) to enlist? Anyone that's in have a good experience why they wanted out but couldn't?

I must a be a rarity, but it crossed my mind a week ago and I can't stop thinking about it....
I'll turn on my PM's for just a few days in case some one doesn't want to comment publicly

I'm 30, I did it at 22, I wouldn't do it at this age, but the years have taken their toll on me lol. That said, physical standards that you have to perform to vary by age, but not in boot. You have to do the same stuff the 18 year olds do. I respect your desire, I felt much the same (just 8 years earlier ), but only you can make that call.

I tried to reenlist & switch services (to Army) at age 33. I asked for infantry, but the recruiter wasn't interested in putting me into anything except my former (by 10 years) specialty. I'm not sure how much age factored into that, but I attended the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center later the same year and kept up with the 22-27 year olds who were in my class.

Not ridiculous at all. If you feel the call, listen...
