what could this be on a cummins?

I found this on my new to me cummins. It's stamped "power supply" but I can't figure out what it goes to. It's located under the driver side dash...

Looks like it goes to a brake box for hauling trailers and things. You could always cut the wires and find out may be a bad idea dont take my advice but ya looks like its to a brake box

I concour. I have one in my gmc. if you got the trailering package you should also get a pigtail for it.

well if you look at the second picture on the far right there is a break controller already installer. So is this something else like say for a snow plow or something. I brought this truck up from Texas, so I doubt it had a plow on it, but the dealer has no clue what it's for either. I've posted it the dodge forums and no one there can tell me about it either....

I guess it's not a big deal, but I kinda want to know what it does..

Could it be a power supply for some type of engine monitor? Maybe a gps device or maybe a fuss buster?

I didnt see the pic either. on my screen I have to scroll over to see the brake controller.

It is more than likely for a programmer/controller. ALOT of diesels have them There are good ones out there, but be careful. They can screw your truck 10 fold if you dont know what you are doing with them.

PPE is one of the best as far as programmers go.

I was thinking it could have been a port for a programmer but I have only seen the ones on fords and its under the hood so I really got no idea. Now that I think about it it probably is allot of people are installing the chips to try and help with gas mileage

whatever it is it's an add on , in the first pic you can see the diag port on the right side , the color of the wires is the same as a normal trailer brake , trace then backwards & see where they go

Well, only two wires go anywhere. The red and white. The others are just cut clean inside the shrink tubing. The two wires go under the dash and are spliced into some factory wires that go to a harness. One is green with a yellow stripe and goes out the firewall and the other end in the harness?

It's gotta be some sort of a power supply to some kinda gadget I was hoping some one would recognize the plug. Are they any programmers that need a power supply that the diag port can't supply?

The top pic with the plug on the right is your OBD II connector. does the "power supply" have any other writing on it?

I think I recall seeing that on either trucks or xtreme4x4 and it went to a plug in programmer
