32 or 36 in. LCD Brand & Model

    Hey all,

I'm looking to pickup a 32/36 inch widescreen LCD for use in my bedroom. I'm pretty set on having at least 2 HDMI ports, a DVI port, and 1080p support.

Looking for input on brands, and models within brand. Price range is around $1000 with some wiggle room, and would love to spend less if features are met.

Looking for input, particularly on 'non-premium' brands as opposed to Sony et all.

Also, linkage to respected AV forums/sites will also be appreciated.

    Thoughts?

1g will get you a verry nice sharp aquos. my fav.

for under 600 you can get a 32in 720p(i know you want 1080) vizio, they have great upscaling.

Don't think the Vizio in those sizes had two HDMI ports... Nor a DVI... but you can get a DVI to HDMI adapter

But... the Sony Bravia does have two HDMI ports I think... if not three?

Don't be afraid to get it in the 720p either. The lower line of the Sony in 720p (also comes in 1080p and even 120Hz) can up convert and not that much is even broadcasting in 1080p anyway. And most Blue Rays will feed it and it will handle the 1080p just fine. And it has a great dpi rating. The Sony Bravia 32 inch LCD in 720p, for what it has in it, is a great value right now... $650?

That said... the Visio is a great bargain too and a good looking picture too. Around $550 I think for the 32 incher. I think the 42 inch in 720dpi can be had for about $800 OTD at Walmart and such.

Well I guess my brother doesnt have a 32 in vizio in his room then. It has a component, 2 hdmi, tv jack, a/v jack etc. depends on the model he got the one from sams, had more features than the ones avalible at walmart. cheaper too.

          Ok... whatever you say then...

Naw... I can't recall exactly. I'll take your word for the fact it has more than one HDMI port in it. I do recall I was impressed with the picture on them though. I did buy a 42 inch Vizio for the In Laws and I was impressed with it.

Check out the Panasonic TC-32LZ800 [32"] or the TC-37LZ85 [37"]. I have the 37incher, I got it for under a grand with some good haggling. It's 1080p, 3 HDMI (no DVI, but as mentioned, it's a simple/cheap piece to convert DVI<->HDMI) and looks excellent after I took DVE to it (DVE is a calibration program, can be picked up new for around $30). Had this set since the middle of June and I compared it to Samsungs/Sonys/Sharps in the 37-40 inch range.

The 32LZ800 is its little brother with similar specs but it has a 120hz panel.

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/forumdisplay.php?f=166 should make for some informative reading.

It's 1.5 months away from Black Friday where 50" lcd/plasma tv's will be ~$800-$900 and a 32" might be $250-$300 as every prediction website foresees 42" screens priced at $499. If you're that desperate to throw $700 down the toilet, go right ahead. Otherwise I'd hold on to your money and see what Black Friday brings. I'm looking to buy a 42" or two, and I'm holding out the 1.5 months.

                  That's just my $.02

Phaelynar, do you have any links to those price reduction predictions?

I'd love to save some cash, and I do know that seasonal sales will push price down, but I had no idea of that level of cost reduction.

                    Thanks for the input gang.

open box is where its at....its especially great if you know the service menu codes to see how many hours are on the tv before buying it

bought my tv over 2 years ago for over $600 under retail because it was an open box return....had less than 20 hours on the set when I loaded it in the truck. combined an open box deal with a "same as cash for 1 year+" credit deal and you get the best bang for your buck IMO. I'd rather look for a deal and spend an extra $50 than have to deal with black friday idiots.
