    Best pie in America?

I was having an intellectual discussion involving the quality of my grandmothers apple pie and got to wondering. Which state has the best pie in the USA. Now of course everyone is going to chime in "oh we do, definitely". But Im looking for something that can be substantiated here. Is there actually a "pie state"? Or at least a state that is known for making them in epic fashion?

My grandma makes the best pie. But I nominate this company for having the funniest name: Tootie Pie Co.

              Warwitch,

I'd imagine that it would depend on the type of pie.

I remember seeing something on food network about this huge pie that weighed like 8lbs or something around there.....its looked like it was about a foot tall.

all I know is I want my pie a la mode.....either that or cake in a bowl so it can be drenched in milk.

Punkncat please move quickly to the chamberlock as the effects of prolonged exposure to the button are not part of this test.

                        Make a pie yourself.

Pick some blackberries, mash them up with a bunch of sugar, some fresh lemon juice, make some pie dough, and put it in the oven. Better than anything you'll find at a store.

I did it once when I went to my friend's family on their yearly trip to Orcas Island (it kicks ***), except my friend's mom used some very unfresh lemon juice (she bought it in a green plastic bottle ) and pre-made, pre-shaped pie dough. And it was still orgasmically delicious.

I'm going to have to vote the best pie as peanut butter pie from the Ranch House just outside of Summersville WV, its awsome best pie I've ever had(all of thier pie is the best I've had actually but the peanut butter pie is especially awsome). As for best state overall I don't know I've not eaten pie in many states.

peanut butter pie???? never heard of it. I love peanut butter, but the thought of it as a pie is a little...overpowering.

I'd never heard of it either, and it was a ?diluted? peanut butter. The PB was used as a base for the filling but wasn't the overpowering PB taste you'd think. It was way good, I've actually never seen it anywhere but WV.
