    Oklahoma

Well, the pie thread sparked my curiosity about "State Foods" and I found something I do not quite get. The state vegetable of Oklahoma is...

    The watermelon

The watermelon was declared the Oklahoma State Vegetable in 2007. Is it an inside joke that Oklahomies ( ) have with one another? If someone from Oklahoma could clear this up, I'd be appreciative.

Huh, I never thought about official state foods. Utahs is Jello, no surprise there. The Fruit being a Cherry and the Vegtable being a Beet make alot less sence to me though. Do we grow alot of cherrys and beets in Utah? I thought it was mostly apples and corn, I've never even heard of a beet farm in Utah I thought we got most of them from Idaho. Cherrys must be in parts of the state far from where I am here its all watermelon, apples, squashes, and corn.
