Shiny new toy...

Its a Yugoslavian 59/66 SKS. it's pretty nifty, having a boyonet and 22mm grenade launcher on the muzzle. the best part is that it was $100. i decided to give it to my little brother as i had promised him a rifle a while back. here it is with its Comrades:

well, it belonged to a friend of mine who's dad got an injunction, so Ive had it and several other guns in my house that belong to them. he's a bit of a pothead, has no job, and isn't in school. he came over asking if i wanted to buy it, i told him i only had $100 and he accepted.

we had fun. he hasn't been shooting since we were little, but he did well. i think he might be joining me regularly on range trips from now on.

we did a complete tear down of it last night and boiled all the small parts and springs in water to get the cosmoline off. we scrubbed the stock with hoppes to try and get the cosmo out of the grain, so its a little more yellow in color. we might get around to steaming it and get it back to its beechwood color. the supply is running out, so you better buy one now. they are only going to get more exspensive.

Yeah, going to France for christmas (yeah yeah...) so I have to wait until I get back so I have money.

So is the threat of Obama driving up prices or is it just limited supply running out? (not to spark debate)

primarily the reduction in supply. there are only so many, and once they are gone they are gone. that's what happened with the WASR rifles. i got mine for $330 out the door 8 months ago, then the factory that made them switches to car parts and now they go for $400-500. if Obama gets elected i see a lot of panic buying taking place, which would lead to artificially inflated prices on everything.
