whoa... Watch out those of you in the South.
After seeing that I realized that I have seen one before at Fort Pulaski near Savannah GA. It was big...but not nearly as big as that bird eater.
im used to tarantulas tho. they are not quite as freaky. I think its because they are thick and hairy...not spiney (sp?) slender and needle like.Comment

That must have been what bit me a while back. I had seen some in my yard (the abdomen looked just like a little fruit fly), but didn't think much of it. The bite was a couple of red bumps, but what made me notice is my whole shoulder itched. I must be slightly allergic.Originally posted by MoeMagwhoa... Watch out those of you in the South.

I don't mind hairy spiders, but the size of the barbs on spider legs are a fair measure of how aggressive they can be. If it's made more for wrestling, I'm not sharing space with it. I've had one grab onto my knuckle at night and gnaw on it until I thought I had skinned it. Of course, I picked it up when I walked straight through its new web, so I guess I owed it a meal.
