Oh man, that is my favorite memory from D-Day. You're totally pumped up anyways being in a landing bout about to be hit with hundreds of paintballs, and then you got some guy playing the bagpipe behind you.Originally posted by pillageDruid are you going to play the pipes at D-day?

Well, I'm bringing them alongOriginally posted by pillageDruid are you going to play the pipes at D-day?

I did that once at Skirmish but the Germans decided to shoot at me instead of the advancing forces. My pipes are older than 1900 and I was pretty PO'd about it. I mean I knew I'd get hit by some but come on....Originally posted by Will WoodOh man, that is my favorite memory from D-Day. Anyway, If I do I'll need another mask to cut a piece out the mouth plate for the Pipe's blow stick....Comment

What year did you do it?
I think I was there in 05 .. or 04...
I think I started (I threw a smoke grenade right before it happened) a huge fire. So if you remember a huge fire.. That was me..
Best part everyone just kind of played around it, they didn't seem bothered.
How hard is it to learn to play a bag pipe. Seems like it would be extremely hard, but I don't know anything about them.Comment

...and there are fires every year because people throw them into the dry grass....lmao....
It's more difficult than breathing and less difficult than learning temporal physics
It takes about 6 months-to-a-year on a practice chanter and tutor book, then you start on the Pipes. I've been playing since 1984/85. In 1990 I started playing band competitions, finally retiring in 1997-ishComment

Agreed, its like someone playing an accordion.Originally posted by smoothicethat guy is smart to wear a mask.
Playing the bag pipes is not very flattering.
Sort of like the sound scratching a knife on a sauce pan makes.
Its just wrong, like men wearing dresses.
But this is, if I'm not mistaken, still America, the land of the free.
So as long as its legal have at it.
But I'm aiming at the knees if I see a guy in a dress playing paintball lol

1. The reeds they are playing are too hard for them (they come in 3 strengths)
2. The reeds are too dry.Comment
