I found something else as addicting as the 'mag......

I've been into cars forever, but in the last year my focus has moved to off road and Jeeps more specifically.

    Here are the current toys.
Anyone else on here a 4x4 or Jeep nut?

I wish I had your axles...I'm going to swap this summer. I've got 35 out back and 30 up front and that's not nearly enough, plus the front end suspension is all torn up. Bad play in the ball joints and ALL the bushings are TOAST, so I'm going to put it off for another thousand miles and do it all at once.

What are you swapping in it?

Are those 35's? If so, that from D30 is screaming.

No pictures but I have a yellow 2000 Wrangler that has seen many off road miles. Need to get back into wheeling with it. I feel a little inadequate here as I only have 31s on it....

nice XJ man, going to do a 44 up front and an 8.8 out back?

that as muz said, that 30/35 combo isn't going to hold to well with those 35"s

this thread makes me miss my toyota.

Had a few jeeps and am looking for an off road "fun" car right now. Seriously considering an old range rover. Pre air suspension and ABS, etc.

                      Hey Papa Smurf...

Is that cargo rack that you've got on that jeep just attached at those four points on the gutter/seam? How sturdy is it? I'm thinking of building one and am gathering ideas for how to mount it. Thanks.

As an FYI, I'm doing the same thing and am using the thule type of roof rack mounting feet for the base. I'm doing 4 points on each side though. Probably overkill, but I want to make sure nothing flies off. Still cheaper then buying a done up expedition style cargo rack.

Yes they are and yes it is!

I'll ride it out till summer and swap in 44's I think, but I have time to decide. I only drive 8 or 9 miles a day now, good thing because my ball joints are toast. I have the death wobble BAD.

It is, previous owner built it, but didn't finish it. I welded the brackets. I'll get some pics for you, but yeah, clamps to the gutter. Angle on the outside. Flat on the inside, bolt through pinches. I've had some serious load on it and I drive hard so I'm confident in the design.

Yeah if you could get me some close-ups of it that'd be awesome. I've got a pretty good idea of how to do it and what I want, but I'm not against researching all options and stealing ideas!
