Ok, I'm an industrial electrician, and have a residential plumbing problem (which I know almost nothing about). I haven't had the chance to break ou the tools, so my info isn't much at the moment. I have an upstairs bathroom, sink faucent works fine. But the shower, the cold water works most of the time, but the hot only intermitently, and when it does the pressure is negligeable. This just started a today. Any ideas what may be causing the problem or potential fixes?

I have a sink that did that to me. It had 1/4 turn faucets and the old water heater had dropped a bunch of calcium chunks in the ports. I turned off the water to that side and unscrewed the cartridge and cleared it out. When both hot and cold do it to me, its usually the faucet strainer doing its job.

Municiple water, single control, made by Delta. I've been able just fidling with it briefly to take the controls off, but I have yet to be able to figure out how to disasemble the rest and get at the guts. Any suggestions on how to do it?Die Screaming

There should be a shutoff in the basement, perhaps?Originally posted by EagleWell I THINK I figured out how to get at the guts of it, but short of tearing a hole in the wall I don't know how to shut off the water to the shower, any ideas?
The delta faucets use a stem. Most of the time you need a stem puller to get it out.
The stem could POSSIBLY be giving you the problems, however i'd probably look at the hot water tank, first.Comment

usually you remove the center cap (by poping it off, and then unscrew the handle off. After that you can get to the guts.Originally posted by EagleMuniciple water, single control, made by Delta. You might as well shutoff the house. Should be easier than trying to find a cutoff in the wall. I can't remember if they always put shutoffs in there or not.
There's usually a keeper ring or nut on top.
Now that you mention it, I had the same trouble in the kitchen single control faucet.Comment
