Because the forum as a whole is too active?

I understand the concern that it could have degraded, but it had not. Considering there is no activity to really be disruptive of I don't see what the issue was.

personally I think it may be time to have a political section
At this point I know I am becoming more politically active , it would be nice to see how others on this forum see things , not as a Rep or Dem pushing thier views , but just as plain ole folks
the way thing are now most of my conversations start with ; are you still working ? , What do you think will help the country ?

I was wondering the same thing.

I think it had less to do with the fear of the thread degrading and more to do with it being political.

Its great when a random post, that normally be closed on AO, just happens to slip past the mods view for a few pages....was hoping that thread would make it for awhile. The title kind of doomed it though

This site has always to me been rated PG-13. Sure sometimes there is discussions about some pretty technical things, but the subject matter never gets above a 13yr old mentality. If you want more AO probably isn't the place to find it even though many of us are well on are way to being over the hill and enjoy talking about the world around us.

seems its a pretty PG-13 topic, passing laws and all.

True enough, but considering the content of said law being passed and the overall controversy that arises from said content, in that case things tend escalate past the PG-13 realm. It seems that most stances regarding that content are: staunchly opposed or, "..... dude what were we talking about again...?"

content = a currently illegal drug

Am I the only one who thinks making illegal drugs a taboo subject just leads to the belief that "illegal drugs are the only bad drugs" further increasing the prevalence of the most widely abused drugs, prescriptions? Placing a taboo on illegal drugs just leads to laziness in explaining the dangers of all drugs.

There is no age raiting for the illegal sale of drugs(legal or illegal), so how is an age rating on a discussion of the topic beneficial to slowing drug abuse? Its not.

I understand the idea that the discussion could get out of hand, but that can happen just as easily with a discussion on baseball...in either case it would be the discussion's participants fault not the fault of the topic itself.

Like I said before I hope it was closed because it was directly political, and not the general content of the bill/discussion.
