I know there are many of you here who enjoy motorsports...

...such as ATVs and Dirt bikes etc..
Therefore, in order to preserve this activity for your children you need to send a message. It take less than a minute or for future children.

Please help us in joining our dear friend Malcolm Smith and his family in overturning this careless legislation passed by lawmakers as the Consumer Product Safety Commission of 2008, or CPSC, has made it illegal for motorcycle dealers across America to sell motorcycles, ATV, snowmobiles, parts, helmets etc. for use by children under the age of 12 because of small amounts of lead.

This is a vital form of off-highway recreation for American families, preserve youth racing and help protect the thousands of jobs associated with this industry.

So please go to www.tomself.com and scroll down to the pre-written letter to send to our Chairwoman Nancy Nord or fax it to Feinstein at 202-228-3954.

Understanding that younger kids ride competatively and whatnot......I know that the dealership near me still sells small bikes aimed specifically at the younger riders. The saleman there told me that you just cannot mention that you are buying it for your kid. I was looking at a family 4 wheeler for christmas briefly.

I will be honest. There are several young kids (under 12) here in the neighborhood who's parents apparently have more money than sense and have purchased full sized 4 wheelers, and allow the kids to ride them in and around an empty couple of lots. These kids bust *** up and down the street, and are constantly making noise from early in the morning until late at night. Several occasions I have had to get onto them for riding through and tearing up a wet spot in my yard that is "fun" to ride through.

I have no problem with kids riding, in approved areas, with adult supervision. Otherwise, I would like to see them off of them, and especially where it is a nuisance. Not even to mention the safety issues both to them and to everyone else around them. Motorbikes and 4 wheelers are not toys. As far as I am concerned anything that can be done to make it harder, or for parents to have to show some common sense and supervision for thier kids to ride these things is good to me...lead or not.

Tell me please, what is the justification that results in lead in a helmet? Do I think there is an issue with government getting its hands where it doesn't belong? Yes I do. However, I still don't see why there would be the need for lead in a helmet.

Thats not what I was taking from the article. If there really is lead in these helmets than thats a different concern, separate from quads and bikes.

the parents shouldn't let their kids do that unsupervised, its not legal to ride down the road most places in the USA, call the cops on them for tresspassing.
