    What?

Well, Dark blade bought my N2 tank off of me. So I shipped it it out last week. I watched her mark it FRAGILE and I said please be sure it doesnt get banged around at all. And had it packed with alot of news paper and is was still in a tank cover. ANYWAYS. My computer took a crap on me and is sitting at best buy. So I checked here with my laptop to make sure all of my items I had sent out last week got to their new homes. the pm I got said he got 1 cover. But the bottom of the box was ripped open and the tank and 1 other cover plus the lanyard I threw in were MIA.he called his PO (shipped USPS) and they said they will keep their eye out for it. but haven't seen anything. I don't know if USPS does insurance or not. But it was clearly marked fragile. And this is just unacceptable to me. What are my other options? Can I talk to my PO about it? I have never had anything like this happen before, damaged items, sure. But never missing out of there boxes.

I have only had one package loose its contents. it was a dye boomstick. The buyer filled out a sheet of "lost contents" or something like that. It ended up turning up within 2 weeks.

writing on your box means nothing. good luck dealing with USPS. they suck when it comes to insurance.

well, we never discussed insurance. I just think it is completet BS that they throw there "fragile" items around enough to break the box and lose its contents..They will hear from me tomorrow for sure. I am really not happy about this.
and I am sure Dark blade is a bit bummed out that he might be out of a tank because USPS is just that careless.

I'm going to be unpopular here, and go ahead and say it: What do you expect from minimum wage government job peoples???

The USPS is not new, nor is their (or any other shipping company's) history of mistreating boxes. I swear that the opening scene from Ace Ventura is a real life happening somewhere.

If YOU didn't package it well enough to survive the trip then YOU bear at lest SOME responsibility for it. No fun to hear it, I know, but still This is nothing that a few passes of shipping tape couldn't have prevented (is my guess anyway)

I don't know whre you got this info ( in red ) but I know several postal employees , the ones I know make far above minimum wage , as for the way things are treated , I think you get slackers in every job
I do agree : if your going to put fragile on a package , you better package it like your mailing eggs

Are you sure the damage is due to the shipping? Perhaps someone might have stolen the contents.
A well packed tank should have no way of busting out of a cardboard box just from kicking and throwing it, even with one pass of tape one the box. Do you notice any dents n such on the box aside from the hole?

also, if you didnt insure it, the post office will probably do nothing

Eh, I admit, was making some assumptions. Still I think that the princple is the same. You always get people who just don't care.

I've just seen too many packages with some pretty severe damage delivered to me to assume that anything will make it where I'm sending it without taking a beating.

The thing was packed with about 5lbs of newspaper. I didn't need it exploding. I also thought about theft. But why wouldn't they just take the whole box? And leave one cover in there and just take the tank and a Redz lanyard? I don't know. Pretty lame if you ask me.

                    In before "fragile, lol".

I had it happen with a classic mag rail, it was packaged in a cheap non padded mailer and I assumed it was a victim of a mail sorting machine. Also had it happen recently with woot.com order; package was ripped open and contained nothing more than some sweet Texas air and some packaging balloons.

It happens, and it sucks. Sadly I find it is typically the sellers fault.

If it went missing, and it can't be located by your local office or processing center, chances are that it went to the mail recovery center. Ask your local postmaster for help in contacting them.

just thought i would throw in my $0.02 for this matter seeing as i was the buyer.

The box had fragile marked on it but since it was marked on a plastic covering (probably tape) over the label, it smudged off/wore off mostly. The bottom of the box had clearly ripped open and had 1 pass of tape on it, not sure how strong the tape was but the box was surely a reused box... hope the tape wasnt reused.

Nextly, the tank cover was inside, there was newspaper but certainly not 5 lbs worth haha. You could still see the round shape of the tank molded in the paper so i know he DID ship it.

I am just very unhappy with everything overall... no tank, usps isnt gonna really look cuz i didnt put insurance, and i cant say how well the tank was actually packaged inside the box seeing as i never recieved it packaged inside.

on that note, lets see what happened at the post office today.
