Yeah when i first heard a politician say that i got pissed. But then again i also don't want to lose total faith in the system just yet because i'm hoping that the good politicians can get in and do things for the better, but it's a shame that they're in the minority. maybe Jefferson was right....

Well, regardless of your feelings about current events, at least THINGS are happening I just hope there is SOME kind of healthcare reform that happens - we need it, for sure. A lot of people seem to be in favor of doing it incrementally now - if they just stopped insurance companies dropping people and denying because of pre-existing conditions, it would be something.

I'm lucky enough to have great insurance where I work so it doesn't mean much to me right now, but I'm not naive enough to think that I'm guaranteed this job forever. With a stay-at-home wife and 2 kids, affordable medical care is pretty important to me.

I will say that, having been born in the UK and experiencing the medical care there, I do very much like what I get here - but on the flipside, it was very nice to not have to worry about dealing with direct payment as well. For the first couple of years I lived here, I didn't have any medical insurance and couldn't afford any and it was a very big concern to me.

I seem to be derailing a lot of threads this morning.

        Ideas like universal health care?

Thats always been a democratic agenda - its a talking point that works for them. Its not new, its not daring to question the party line. Its just picking it up.

I'll throw out a flat tax, increased states rights, and restructuring financial regulation.

That's not that controversial right now, based on the results of voting in most states

Look how much coverage the tea-parties get on cnn and nbc.

Cnn isn't even all that bad, its nbc and msnbc.

Yeah we are sitting on one of the greatest oil reserves in the world and the only thing stopping it from being drilled are the dems. That def is a party issue, we pay for other peoples oil and that is a main reason the gas prices are horrid. If we drill here drill now we open up jobs and gas prices go down. We can then look for alternatives as we do it. This isn't a matter of environmentalism. This reminds me of a George Carlin joke, he points out how cocky humans are, the earth has been here for billions of years many of them without us...the earths not screwed, if anything the people are.

Watch that video you will LOVE it and it is hilarious. Trust me don't click it and your missing out, its the George Carlin vid.

Yeah, that being said we still shouldn't pollute the environment too much, the world can adapt, we can't.

But yeah, drilling here would be a great idea, but the people opposing it MUST have a good reason.
