I am all for firearm ownership, but there needs to be guidelines, which for me is licensing and the registration of all firearms.

Our laws are very strict in comparison to the states and this was in direct response to a tragedy that accorded here in the mid 90's. Australia does not stop you from owning firearms if you want to, but there are rules and guidelines that you must follow.

do not take what i am saying in any way shape or form that i feel you guys require restrictions on what you can own, but i do feel you should be all licenced and forced to register your firearms.

(if this is already the case then disregard my post)
Well I fundamentally disagree, thankfully so did the founding fathers of our country.

    'nough said

as far as restrictions, absolutely you're right, repeal the NFA!

This administration is leaving absolutely NOTHING up to personal responsibility. They are saying that the average american is too dumb to think for himself. They will hold your hand for you every step of the way, all the while trampling all over your constitutional rights. Obama called a "fundamentally flawed document". Instead of abiding by it, they want to change it. It is not his to change. It is mine...and yours. He works for us...or does he?
2.7 million jobs lost since he took office. Pretty good "HOPE"...and lots of "Change".
I have plenty of "Hope"...hope that they wont ruin this country beyond repair.
They spend millions of dollars every day writing these POS bills. Why dont they try and get the ones already on the books to work? Everyday there is more and more Federal intrusion into our lives. I say get rid of all of the bums.

                    Q!

I made a little realization.. you guys are feeling like I felt during the first Bush term except more so.. I voted for McCain in the 200 primary. Pretty funny actually. You should expect to feel much worse and much more angry, particularly when Obama gets reelected.

Keep up the name calling, misrepresentations and the gloom and doom. I'm done with the thread. You may teabag in peace.

                    Cheers!

I don't disagree with you on a lot of these issues; I just take issue with the fact that you only posted one piece of evidence which isn't valid (they admit it's based on info from campaign in '07 even), and refused to read the quotes and check the other posted links to good sources.

They won't take a single gun from me, and I'll carry them where I please provided it's not a plane or school.

..or any government building, or a federal park, or most state parks, or where alcohol is the main product served etc. Try doing the tourist thing in Washington DC while carrying a loaded weapon on the mall.

I used to bring my rifles and shotguns to school all the time, so we could head right to the ranch to shoot pidgeons and squirrels. No, this isn't a tiny out of the way podunk town, but a university and military base town. Try carrying your gun withing 1000' of any K-12 school today (Yes, 1000'. Federal law. You don't even have to be on campus. This is also California law, but slightly less stringent.....surprisingly). I would venture that students and faculty of Virgina Tech were not too happy that the law kept nobody safe....except the shooter.

California has already confiscated firearms from a required registration list, the great SKS rifle debacle of the early 90's. Don't think it won't happen elsewhere.

As for the poster that touted the national park carry that 0bama signed....Bush had ALREADY signed that into law. 0bama ended it, but then signed a bill that had its reinstatement as a rider (further proving legislators don't read what they sign or vote for). BTW, the Nat.Park carry is ONLY for CCW holders whose license is recognised by the state that houses the park.

The White house has stated that they would wait for the Heller decision before pushing any more anit-gun legislation, but has also realized that the number of blue-dog Democrats would not give them enough votes for an overwhelming and straight party line vote. Bringing back the so-called Assault Weapon Ban would be a loser fight, since ALL data (including the governments own research) proved it did nothing to lessen crime. Yet, there it is on the floor log for debate.

As posted earlier, 0bama's anti-gun record is there for anyone to see. Not what he says (or the teleprompter), but what he HAS DONE. Deeds, not words. Holders anti-gun record is there for anyone to see. Hillary's anti-gun record is there. Biden is anti-gun. Emmanuel is anti-gun. etc.

For our Aussie friend. Try buying/owning/using an AR-15 down there for no other reason than to have fun...or shoot kangaroos or hares. I'll bet you $1000USD it ain't gonna happen. How about you posting the current high crime rate, compared to 20 years ago. How about posting the current high violent crime rates, as compared to 20 years ago. How about posting the current high GUN CRIME rates, as compared to 20 years ago. How about comparing yours to the USA, where we can still own firearms for work or pleasure. Hows that no-gun thing working in England? You know, the place where gun/knife/bat crime has soared? Where it is practically illegal to defend yourself? Oh, and since we are paintball related here, how about traipsing through Sydney with your unregistered marker? Yeah, great liberties you have down there. God save the Queen, eh mate?

Actually, one of my fathers friends son wrote a funny article for the NRA flyer/magazine a few weeks back about England and their stupid laws concerning guns, kitchen knives with no tips and now... Beer Steins? It's an interesting and funny piece if you can find it; apparently they're making 100% glass beer mugs illegal because of how easily they can be used as weapons
