AO: We are back from the dead... again! After an 18 day outage, we are finally alive and well. Who knew how complicated updating software/databases from 2008 would be. I still have alot of tweaks to make, but my main goal was getting everything patched and updated to 2026.
Vbulletin 6 has changed alot since 2008 so we will have a ton of new features to dig into.
iPhones are alright now, but it must have been a frustrating ride for the original iPhone users, what with the price dropping by a hundred dollars right after everybody and their brother bought one, them not having a camera or being able to send/receive picture messages, the camera still sucking, Plus those poor people in New York...
I was hoping to open up conversation with my earlier side comment but it didn't work so I'll try again:
Has anyone heard what Steve Jobs has been saying regarding porn and the android phones? what are your thoughts, whether you're an iPhone user, android user, or users of something else?
I'll hold my opinion for a while
also regarding the A4 processer, we know it's a 1GHZ processer, and according to all the tests I've read it's slightly faster than the snapdragon. Of course, when you're talking about loading a web page in a couple seconds, 15% faster than a couple seconds really isn't that noticeable to me. Plus Qualcomm is coming out with a dual core processor for phones

Steve Jobs arrogance is absolutely astounding.
I mean his total attitude in general towards competition.
I will never own anything apple because of this.
Now to address the porn....does he think Iphones cant go to porn sites ?
If someone wants porn they will get it one way or the other.
I never knew the Android market had the stuff till I read his comments and mentioned it to
a guy at work. He immediately did a search and sure enough the its there.
You can have open source or prison, pick your poison.
Don't know about the iPhone 4 yet, but I did preorder mine and the wife's.
Got home, searched ebay for a case and realized people were selling their preorders for over $1000, so what do I do.....
DUH, I put on up for sale. She sold the other night for $825, and I don't even receive it until July 8. So I paid 400 for two phones, sold one for 800. So basically I got paid to get a new iPhone.......I'll take it!

Since you're all about speck and no hype whatsoever....what is the processing power of the a4 in mflops or just clock speed will do. And for that matter what's the price difference of the two with ummm say 100 apps?
I wouldn't hope to compare particular app prices but as far as the ones that I;ve purchased (both iPhone and Android) they're close... well except for turn by turn GPS. For that Android has a free app and the iPhone does not. That's a big kicker for some.
As for the A4 processor... As mentioned previously Apple hasn't listed the clock speed of the A4 however that doesn't mean that we can't set a min speck. We do know how the iPad benchmarks, and we know that the iPhone 4 uses either that exact processor or a newer faster unit. Though the actual numbers will be out the instant someone get's their hands on one. Just for comparison sake here's how the iPad's A4 stacks up against the fastest snapdragons in the current fleet of andriod phones.
Amongst industry professionals it's pretty common knowledge that the current A4 is faster than the snapdragon (1GHz) but we expect to see a 1.3GHz Snapdragon pretty soon here. So, simply assuming that Apple used the same processor without any upgrades (which is NOT likely) I can easily say that the A4 is faster. Here is one benchmark with a link below with some further results.

You do know the Droid is running very successfully at 1.2 Ghz without much additional drain on battery life?
I'm just saying, if the 550Mhz Droid runs at 1.2Ghz I wonder what the new generation of snapdragons run at...
The new iphone is cool enough, more then I can afford though and with more restrictions then I want to deal with. Every one around here has been trading their iphones for Android so there must be some thing Android has to offer...

he's right. my friends motorola droid runs flawlessly at 1.1Ghz. it's only supposed to be a 800Mhz processor (clocked down to 550). I can't wait to get my Incredible rooted...
