    Full Circle

I have purchased another motorcycle. Older members will remember, and those who know me, that I almost died and lost my left foot in a motorcycle accident just under three years ago. Since the accident, I knew that I wanted to ride again at some point. I was forced to sell my Harley due to several reasons, mostly due to my wifes discomfort with the possibility of riding again. She knows that I have a deep love for the machines, in spite of my accident and that I would at some point or another get one again. Unfortunately, she was not as ready as I was and I simply got tired of waiting for her to give me the go ahead....so, I went and picked up my new (to me) bike yesterday.

It is an 05 Honda Shadow Sabre VT1100 w/ 15K on the clock. Runs and rides like a dream. It is going to be my "slow and low" ride. I have a few things that I will be doing to it such as saddlebags and floorboards with a heel-toe shifter.
I am going to be taking this down to Thunder Beach in PCB later this year, and look forward to many great rides on it. It feels really good to be back on the horse as it were. Motorcycling is in my blood and I just could not see going a long period of time more w/o riding.

Nice bike, but when i started reading it i started to wonder how well shifting would work out with the prosthetic. I'm guessing the heel-toe shifter is to remedy that? I have no idea what they are. Anyway congrats, i don't think i would have the courage to get back on after losing a leg.

I always loved dirt bikes but never wanted to get on the highway on a bike.
I was never worried about my ability to drive one safely, its the other drivers I dont trust.
Looking back, living here since the late 50's, I think that was a good decision on my part seeing how I am in Florida and dont live far from Sun City Center.

Glad to hear that you're up on the horse again. I wish I could pick up riding, so maybe someday...

Just out of curiosity, what did your wife think when you showed up with this?

Not so happy....let's just say the "garage" is closed for an indefinate period of time.
It will give me plenty of time to ride (the bike) though.

That sucks that she is mad, but I understand the need for a motorcycle. I have been without one for 3 years now. It is hard.

OT. Did your neighbor forget to pour a footer before stacking brick on the ground? His mailbox looks crooked as hell.
