    Why Do People......

Bump their for sale thread to the top by posting a new post saying every thing is sold ?
They could have done that in the first post for goodness sakes !
Clutter up a perfectly good BST section by putting a closed thread on the top.

    Annoying.

    That is all/

If a BST has more than 7-9 post I don't look at them anyways... all the good stuff will be spoken for. I love it when the poster says to come back later and he will post more. It surly the death of a sale thread for me.

I think most people don't realize all they have to do is either edit the original post or even just delete it altogether to nix the entire thread.

When I run some items out for sale I try to be good about keeping it updated... what's available, what's not, lowered prices, etc. After it gets picked over pretty good I let it sit for a couple weeks in case people want to track down a buyer or compare prices, but then I just remove the whole thing. I think it just helps keep the clutter to a minimum.

I like to give a status update on whats sold without editing any posts. On more than one occasion I have purchased items only to have them arrive different than originally posted & then I check the original post & it has been edited. That is why I do it. I do not like to change anything in one of my sales threads rather have the buyer to be able to go back & check exactly what was originally posted.

& yes it has happened here on AO to me as well as other forums. Now I copy everything listed about items I intend to buy to keep a record.

Why delete completed threads? For that matter, why remove pricing when it's sold.

When I'm selling something that I don't know the value of, it's a great resource for me to look at completed sales and see what it went for.

I hate it when people delete all the pertinent info.

I think it's a good idea to not edit the OP of sale threads (or really any of the OP's posts in the sale threads). A little bit of protection for the seller, I'd think. If you're editing the posts for sold status, it opens the door for an unhappy buyer to say "see, you edited the post to reflect what you're saying is true..."

That said, I wouldn't post an update every 15 seconds about every freakin item.

Indeed. I think we would all benefit if the prices were known.

I wish people would not remove the price in favor of "sold".

Remove pictures fine, but keep the other data.
