    FFL - Help!

    Ok,

So I decided to join our office's fantasy football league. Only problem is that I've NEVER done one before. Add to that the fact that I don't follow football at all so I don't really have any clue about what players are good and which ones are not.

So, I need your help. Help me make a list of players to pick in our draft in two weeks.

Here are the positions I need to make a list for.
    Quarterback (QB)
    Running Backs (RB)
    Wide Receivers (WR)
Tight End (TE), 1 Kicker (K)
    Defense/Special Teams (DEF)

Please make suggestions on who I should be putting in my draft list for these selections.

So, I submit to the internet, that our collaborative power shall win!!!

Dangit, I read the title and thought you meant Federal Firearms License.

Sorry, don't know squat about Fantasy Football.

Be careful, Fantasy Football can be close to contracting 'Mag-o-mania. The difference is that the FF affliction hits for only six months at a time instead of year round.

Here are a few websites that I frequent as I'm putting my Draft togeather. You do have to read and do a bit of research, but it's worth it for the bragging rights on Monday mornings.
These sites all have player rankings.

      Some tips from my experience:
      1. Find a FF magazine (or two), to bring to draft day. Helps when you have to quickly look up a player. Or cover bye weeks. (Oh, and don't forget the beer too.)
      2. Running Backs usually are the most dependable point scorers week in, week out. Draft a great one FIRST! (and probably second too.)
      3. QB's can wait. Unless you have a shot at Peyton Manning or Drew Brees, don't bother till the 3rd round.
      4. It helps if you have a starting receiver that is on your starting QB's team. You can score double points on one pass play. (Peyton and Reggie Wayne anyone?)
      5. Don't pick everyone from your favorite team. (Go Big Blue)
      6. Every player will have a week off during the season. You will have to fill that spot with a quality back-up. (i.e. Make sure your QB's don't have the same bye week.)
      7. Rookies rarely pan out. Some do, but not till later in the year. (H. Nicks, J. Maclin, J. Harrison) If you feel good about one, take him as a flyer in the late rounds and sit on him.
      8. Watch out for teams that use a RB rotation. You want a RB that will carry 25-30 times a game as your stud.
      9. Loose lips sink FF ships. Don't talk about your strategy with opponents. They may like your ideas more than their own.
      10. Remember that everything "starts up front" with the offensive line. If the O-line sux, RB's can't run and QB's can't pass.

My team last year, (I lost in the semi-finals) 16 Rounds in my draft.
      QB's: Drew Brees, Matt Shaub
      RB1: Ray Rice, Frank Gore
      RB2: Cedric Benson, Amahd Bradshaw,
WR1: Larry Fitzgerald, Steve Smith (NYG)
WR2: Nate Burlson, Percy Harvin, Eddie Royal
      TE's: Dallas Clark, Owen Daniels
K: The dude from Green Bay
      Defense: Green Bay, San Fran.

Look up some 'Mock Drafts' online to see how the experts( ) are picking their teams.
Hope some of this helps. I'm sure others will have differing opinions as there is no 'right' way to play or draft. Good luck!

Try to draft the #1 and #2 RBs from the same team. Two reasons: Less hurt if they start rotating/commiteeing (depending on your roster) and if #1 gets hurt, you have his backup already on your roster. Depending on roster size, this may hinder your ability to hedge against the bye, so be careful.

Our group is going to have about 14 teams.

We're limited to 15 person roster.

Thanks for the advice. Sounds good.

Now I just need more names.

Get a FF magazint or two, and throw them in the bathroom. Bring snacks.
