I bet that 10 miles costed $400.00 in fuel.

I dont think those motors can take the ethanol that 99% of gas stations have in their fuel.Originally posted by sjrtkProlly did cost 400 in fuel, unless he filled up 20 miles from the marina. But thats a nice display of 3 Merc's running full bore.
Doesnt the alcohol in ethanol cause moisture buildup inside those types of engines ?
Its my understanding marina fuel doesnt contain ethanol.

They burn 22 gals an hour each engine going 70mph. 450 mile range.

It does but the government (loving to stifle every industry it has left for the sake of PR) basically refuses to acknowledge it, so many smaller marinas offer E10. Newer engines like newer cars are set up with the problem in mind, but with older ones the best you can do is buy fresh gas and use it up fast, and keep your tanks sealed tight at all times. For a lot of freshwater and non-commercial boaters it's an issue because they fill emergency and auxiliary tanks at gas stations and don't use it until it's needed... Hell plenty fill primary tanks there too and store their boats with it.Originally posted by going_homeI dont think those motors can take the ethanol that 99% of gas stations have in their fuel.

All gasoline is now ethanol mix no exceptions but what is left over. EPA has gotten used to getting its way. Other than older fuel lines (it eats them) not a big issue as long as the gas is fresh, like just about everything using gasoline fresh is better. Ohh and the EPA also killed the flat head Briggs and Stratton lawn mower engines that ran forever and even an engineer could fix.Comment
