AO: We are back from the dead... again! After an 18 day outage, we are finally alive and well. Who knew how complicated updating software/databases from 2008 would be. I still have alot of tweaks to make, but my main goal was getting everything patched and updated to 2026.
Vbulletin 6 has changed alot since 2008 so we will have a ton of new features to dig into.
I went through a similar phase. Started playing woodsball in 98ish. By 2005 i was burned out on speedball and even more dissatisfied with the attitudes/pompous egos brought into the sport. By 2006 I was done.
The remedy? I discovered scenario pball last Oct :) Went the whole 2 day scenario without the slightest suspicion that someone may have wiped after I hit them. Even better, after a good duel, it usually ended with a handshake and "good game" instead of turning into a yelling match.
Instead of going bi-weekly or even monthly, just go to the special events (like the big games) or go with friends in a private party. It'll help you avoid the "aggness" and get straight to the best parts of paintball.

Reason: typo
Try a new field, try something different.. I've been going to the same field on and off for 10 years and it's what has always kept me coming back.
Woodsball is mostly where it's at for me, I played tournaments for about 2-3 years back in the early part of the last decade but they burned me out on paintball big time.
If you're not having fun doing what you're doing, try something else.
Yeah totally agree! Even rec ball can be a burn if you are playing at a super small indoor place. The places I've been going the last few years are more village shootout then full on x-ball. I do miss a full sized snake from time to time but it keeps things fresh and the smaller broken up lanes keep the games interesting if you have 6 guys or 20
Girls are no substatute of paintball
Murphy's law of paintball: If it jams force it. If it breaks it needed replacing anyways
I've been comfortable playing with my closer friends and my paintballing friends I've made on here.
When I started it was a drug, I would go play and the next day want to go again because it was extremely fun.
While the problem with my markers might have brought me down before I gained it all back after I got it fixed by Tuna and used it for two or three outings.
I did go to play again when I went last July, I think, when Tombstone did a giant game/free day and it didn't excite me again.
I know it's expensive, it's the reason I played only once a month. But I know that's not the problem because, as I said before, I'm good budgeting my finances and can plan for a outing if I need to.
I normally play rec ball, not too much speed ball. And paintball caddies fixed the whole reloading my pods woes.
That should be good for now.
I might just be a little burned out now and might get the feeling back in the future, hopefully.
a cheaper more addicting hobby is why i stopped. that and my practice field shut down, my team had disbanded for other pursuites... the last time i played it was at the $#!tt!est field ever... "paintball country" a farm that smelled like cow $#!t with a 1/2 assed feild and overpriced everything. they had a tourny and it was the last time my team got together. we cleaned house no problem, but had a huge problem with the way they ran their tourny. it was the first one they ran, but it was an absolute nightmare. totally sucked. then about a year later ended up selling everything i had as far as paintball went. had a lot of stuff and sold it all for really cheap.
a few years after that, thought about playing. craved it a bit... then thought about how i'd do it differently this time. what guns i'd own... how i'd not be so financially controlled by the game. i always loved and adored Mags and wanted to own one in the past, just never got around to buying one. so i built one. also knew i'd need a back up "just in case" so i bought my second most desired/respected marker that i never got around to buying in the past: a Bob Long Intimidator. i quit playing around 2k4 so when i got back in, i didnt care what was new, i knew what was the best and good enough for me and paintball back then and thats what i got. found my ballance. now i just need to find a team to play with...
I still maintain that all my best memories at a paintball field have happened in those 15 minutes...
I was lucky enough to form a group of friends (hell, some of them I met on AO) who just happened to all like paintball.
There were times we would roll 30 minutes to the field, be there all day and play maybe 10 short games. I've got some good memories from on the field, but the majority of them happened off the field in between games.
I pretty much stopped playing for 3 years while I was moving around for college internships...it just wasn't fun trying to get to know a new group of ballers when I would move from the north to south. The only times I played during that span was when I could get around to shoot with my dudes (Pump Pandemonium x2, AO-South, AO-SoCal, TunaBall, etc).
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE paintball; but what kept me in it wasn't the game...it was the people.
Yep.
Lets face it. Paintball is expensive, sometimes a major hassle, and somtimes you just dont have fun playing.
I had more fun gunwhoring and tinkering, and making new friends, and getting drunk with said friends, than I did actually pulling triggers.
when I stopped playing in 04 it was because the local field closed down, nothin else really local, so i dold everything. after high school i started racing boats, that ate most my spare time and cash.
Then one day last year cleaning up at work, I found my uncles automag, from 94 or something. that got me thinking, hey its been 6 years, maybe there are new places around. Found a new local field full of great guys, and havent look back. im hooked again.
The point was the reloading is always way longer than the games in balloon ball.
So the big question is do you want to spend your time playing or reloading ?
Everyone has their own preferences.
Plenty of both types of fields around here, some fields have both.
I want to spend my time shooting paintballs. I can crawl around the woods any time I want. =]
