i dont have a clue how Apple pulled this off. A never had a clue how SP patented electronic triggers either. Something is screwy in the patent office I think.

I just read the CNET article, and to me it sounds like Apple is not saying they invented touch screens in general, but is saying they invented gesture-based shortcuts (ie, draw a 'W' on the screen and the device opens the web browser, draw an 'N' on the screen and it opens the notepad, etc).

it's a little less specific than that. basically, anytime you touching the screen causes something to happen, you're taking advantage of an idea Apple invented. You touch an app icon, it opens the app. Apple invented that concept.

so Apple claims, anyway.
