Let's see, I don't remember, Paris, GuadalCanal, The Battle of Midway!! Coincedentaly, the battle of Midway was the first naval battle fought entirely over the horizon!!! That means the navies involved never had visual contact with one another!! For the other questions, you might want to search http://www.historychannel.com

        1) Vichy was made the capitol on 9 July 1940. "Vichy France" was not recognised by the western world.

        2) Phillipe Petain was seated as leader on 11 July 1940. Sentanced to death after the war, Charles DeGaulle commuted it to life in prison. Petain died at age 95, in prison.

        3) The Solomons are east of New Guinea, included are Guadalcanal, New Georgia, and Bougainville. All were occupied by the Japanese, all were battlefields of great loss on both sides. The US Marines began their "island hopping" campaigns here, and earned their reputation as the greatest fighting force the world has ever known.

        4) The Battle of the Coral Sea stopped the invasion of Port Moresby, effectively saving Australia from any occupation forces landing there. America lost the USS Lexington ("Lady Lex") to torpedo bombers.

        Hope that helps. Dave

Thanks to everyone who helped me, this place rules. Here are the answers that are right, or atleast according to my teacher.

Who was the leader of German controlled french government?
                Phillipe Petain

What was the capital of German controlled France?
                Vichy

What was one of the Solomon Islands occupied by Japan in 1942?
                Guadalcanal

Where did the US navy stop Japanese attacked aimed at Australia?
I guessed and put Leyte Gulf (because She likes real specific answers, but she said Coral Sea. When I asked her if what I had down would be right she said yes.

So thanks every one for helping me. And sorry I put it in the wrong forum

Oops, sorry about the Leyte Gulf (that came much later in the war). Of course, Army got it right with the Battle of the Coral Sea.
