    George Bush

Somthing I heard on the news the other day kinda pissed me off, Bush said he wants to stop free and reduced lunches at schools, yet he wants to give rich tax cuts. How could he do this? I don't get free lunches but I feel bad thinking about those little kids not eating because of bush, some of them only get to eat at school cause their parents don't have money to have food at home. What are your oppinions on this?
You smell like dookie... No really though.

Something else i heard that makes me mad about bush is that he gave himself a $200,000 raise. Wonder where is getting that raise from...your taxes!!

I don't think he can give himself a raise, as it has to be approved by Congress, and if I'm not mistaken, it wouldn't take effect until next term, in which case he might not be in office.

Damn, that sucks if the kids don't get reduced price lunch anymore. Almost all my friends buy lunch and use the free/reduced lunch thing. Actually, one friend (that doesn't use the reduced lunches) is almost broke because he spent so much on food.

I agree with shartly on many points. and i also feel that I need to maintain tack on my responce to the above posts.

Please do not attack GW Bush on these topics on a random website forum. Take your concerns to your congressmen.

Also please do not over generalize. Broad generalizations are one of the many plagues on society. They only go to display the failure of our education system to properly enlighten us to see the masses not as a vague and offencive class but as the vast dicotemy that we truly are. After saying that of the millions of welfare recipents a large precentage discontinue the aid after the first year of assistance; because they were NOT lazy and DID seek a job.

Now also remember that we are at WAR... a new thing for alot of you. And if you havent noticed the american public has not enacted any of the civilian wartime posturing and support programs of yesteryear, hence another shortfall in the US governments budget conciderations. And where does the money come from to pay for the raw materals that the civilan sector is failing to conserve as they did in the past?

Now to further the military point of view... (and to piggyback on shartleys comment) Do you have any idea how many US Enlisted military members are on welfare and receiving foodstamps? In FY 2000 roughly 3/4 of all personell were eligible to receive these services. And many were forced to to provide for their familys. Are these people lazy also? I think not.

as a closing point, when it comes to politics remember that you elect crap you will get crap results. So why are you not running for office? or writing you congressman? or even attending town hall meetings? For god's sake get involved and quit commenting on the game while your riding the bench.

Im ending this rant short because it will most definatly be truncated and it is useless for me to continue argueing this mute point.

i also find the above post offensive. i was going to post a thorough reply to it, but shartley articulated my viewpoints well beyond my expectations. not all poor people are lazy and not all lazy people end up being poor.

I can't believe yall are badmouthing the president.

1.) Effective January 1, 2001, the annual salary of the president of the United States was increased to $400,000 per year, including a $50,000 expense allowance. This was done prior to GWB taking office and was approved by the 106th congress.(Treasury and General Government Appropriations Act (Public Law 106-58)).

2.) Tax cuts benefit everyone. Reason people believe it favors the rich more, is simple. ex.:

If a rich person earns 251,000 and pays 25% taxes He pays $62,750 in taxes.

If a person like us gets paid $40,000 and pays 20% taxes we pay $8,000 in taxes.

Now if the government says they are reducing taxes across the board by 1% the difference would be $2,510 for the rich and $400 for us. So it might look like they get more back but as Shartley stated the rich pay a higher percentage than us. That is why we taxed them by 25% above and us only 20%. They are still paying $60,000 + to our $7,600. The only reason the government has tax brackets is to make it fairer to the people that don't make as much. This way everyone can afford to pay 3 cents per paintball

3.) Free lunches. This seems very odd he would do such a thing since on October 15, 2001 he declared the week of October 14-20 as National School Lunch Week. in recognition of the program. Furthermore state governments have the most control over the school issues. This is why some states already have a statewide testing program like Texas, Utah and Minnesota. The president is pushing for a national test. (No Child Left Behind Act).

Like Edweird stated. If you truly feel strongly about something than change it. Don't just criticize. A big lesson was learned two years ago on the importance of one voice.
