    How did you start paintball?

I saw the original thread in Historic thread forum, and noticed it was closed. So I decided to start new one.

It was about 2 years ago.My dad hooks up with his girlfriend. She has a daughter, and a son.Her son had been playing paintball for quite some time, played many tournys, and worked at a paintball field in mass. for a couple years(bass river sports). He gave me all his paintball magazines to read about that time. They were all from 97'/98.I didnt care much for paintball, and just put the magazines aside.Last summer, with nothing to do, I pick up 1 of the magazines, and start reading it.It makes me very interested.I keep asking my dad to go play, and he eventually says yes.It was August 2001 when I played my fiest game.It was indoor airball field. It was the best day of my life. The next day....The field goes out of bussiness(American Paintball).A paintball store opens up right down the street from my house, and end up being there after school everyday.I was about to buy a mag,but he told me mags were a dying breed, and i believed him. After I bought my Piranha, they went out of bussiness. Then I discovered AO and AO has been giving me my fix during weekdays, and waiting for sunday,so I can go back to my happy place. The paintball field....

My first time playing was back in the fall of '91. My friend had a beast pump and a kpg rifle. So my friend (KPG), one of his buddies (splatmaster pistol) and me (beast) played in the recreation area around my house. The guy with the splatmaster had some saftey goggles, my friend had a set of old school JT goggles and I had a snowmobile helmet (not the safest way to play). We split 200 paintballs between the three of us and played every man (boy at that time) for himself. I got blasted in the neck twice, while my face shield was up. And a few months later I bought my first marker, a traccer.

fall of 97 i got a ACI Maverick Deluxe. and we (my friend and i ) celebrate the day we first played every year.... Every year Six Flags new England gives the school tickets for free/ reduced entry fee for us students. and its the same weekend we first played paintball almost 5 years ago...... im coming up on my 5th aniversery this fall....\

i actualy got interested in Pball when some one paintballed my house! i tried my sisters boyfriends raptor, and fell in love.... atleast i think it was a raptor, it was dark out and i didnt know jack about paintball.

Jonno06- the field you speak of was called SLAM paintball, just this summer the mini golf place nextdoor expanded and is now where the pro shop used to be. as for the field i dont know whether its still there. they were good. for 20 bux you rented a classic mag, mask, all day air, and a little bit of paint. for 30 you could get a shocker and for private partys you could rent the 2 bazzokas....

my best friend john (sprayingmango) got me into it. i went with him once to this really sucky field. everybody was shootin hot. i was sittin there with my little rental. i got slaughtered. i think i shot one person all day and he wiped. still i saw that the game had potential and it was just the field that was bad. so i went with john to top gun. before going i bought myself a jt proteus and a redz dimension pack. john let me borrow his minimag. thus began my love affair with the mag. all of a sudden i had game. i know the player makes the gun but i couldn't do anything with that rental. it was almost like using a pump. i had to do single shots. all of a sudden i had a quality marker to back up my moves. i immediately began looking into getting my own mag. i borrowed john's mag once more and had an even better time with it. then winter set in. i spent the time on AO and online stores. finally last month i got my used retro mag. some minor issues but i'm quite happy with it. now i spend all my money on paintball and i'm poor. so that's my story of how i got into paintball and mags.

My friends used to talk about playing all the time. One day I asked "What is paintball anyway?" Once the explained the concept of the game, and that you get to shoot people I was hooked. I bought my first gun the next week, and played for the first time that saturday.

I dont live on the cape. i live in Western MA. so i vist the cape every summer. the last time i played there was not the summer that just passed but the one before that. so that would be the summer of 2000. i went last summer but they were closed..... On a bussines trip a few weeks ago my father said he say a sign for a paintball store/field right after the Bourne bridge so i will check that out this summer.

Bass River Sports world, the batting cages/ video arcade/driving range place, exspanded with a mini golf course that is now where SLAM's pro shop used to be. and we could not find the road that led back to the field. so im assumeing that they moved or closed.

When did you go? i noticed your location is florida, got family up here?....

I got started by my friends. We had an 8th grade project where we had to make a poster that described ourselves and a couple of my friends were looking at paintball stuff. At first I wasn't very impressed but they got me to look into it more and I've been trying to play ever since. The only problem is that I've only played twice...

footemps you've only played twice!I thought by the way you talked and your on a automag forum I thought you had at least a year.Man that's strange. Can you not afford it or is there just not a field near you? But anyway i first got into paintball from my friends near the end of the school year.I had heard a lot about it but had never played. My first gun was a 98 custom.Since I was new I couldn't really decide between a Rebel Deluxe,Spyder Tl+,or a 98 Custom. One of my best friends was getting a 98 Custom and he talked me into it.But now i am on a team and own a mag.

My first time paintballing was at a bachelor party. Not your typical bachelor party..... About 30 of us and only 4 or 5 had played before. Someone came out to some private property with a trailer full of rentals (pro-carbines). We had a blast and I learned that a paintball in the forehead from 3 feet really stings!!!!
