OK, I serious don't like my history teacher!

Heres our assignment....

Make a 3 page Review on the movie we watched in class (How The West Was Won)

Rename ALL The actors listed with actors you think should play the character now-a-days. Give an explaination on why you chose the certain actor.
(There is like 35 actors to name)

Make a movie. (Remake the movie with your group for the movie)

ALL Assignments must be done individually EXCEPT the movie.

That actually sounds pretty fun to me... I know I would be helping my son with it... he is in 7th.

(I just asked my son what he thought, and he said it sounded hard.... but then I explained it AGAIN, and slower, and he then said "I guess not.")

I guess I'm used to it being a little easier. On ALL of his tests non Pre-AP has at least 4 essays

But might I suggest that you try to make it "fun"? This type of assignment lends to some pretty creative answers... such as.... what if you were to redo the movie as a "Compton" version?

OR, what if it was more along the lines of Star Wars or Star Trek?

Remember they remade Romeo and Juliet to better suit today's youth... as well as many other older movies, plays, books, etc.

You can clearly argue that even the original movie was not absolutely "historically correct" either. It gives a rough idea of what happened, but is FAR from being a documentary. It is ENTERTAINMENT.

I think a bit of creativity will get you a long ways and make the teacher think as well.... don't hit them from the direction they THINK you will. After all, how can this assignment be done WRONG? It is all about you thinking and reasoning. So have fun.

No doubt. I'm a year out of engineering school and I still dread that year where I had no electives (Fun classes) with fun assignments.

Enjoy it while you can. And may I suggest Bruce Campbell for the main character. Never saw the movie, but I figure Bruce Campbell should be in it anyway. Hah!

After getting a history degree and a teaching license in history (and other fields) I can appreciate what the teacher is doing trying to connect the past to the present. The part that amuses me is that no matter how interesting the teacher tries to make the subject, the students still tend to think it's a waste of time! "History is boring" is the common complaint. I could sit and watch the history channel for hours now, where 15 years ago, it's bore the snot out of me! I personally like the idea your teacher had.

Think about it this way, you can use any actor/actress you want, make up some BS resone on why they would be best for that part. Since it's your oppinion then you can't be wrong. If he tries to give you grief, then tell him that it was an oppinion based assignment, and that there is no wrong answers. Hey I BSed my way through all of high school.

Ok to be a smart arse for this project this is what you so ...

get the names of the actors that played the jawas in the original starwars. for justtification use the fast that you thought that the movie was to much of a downer and wanted to make it in to a comedy.

Now for your presentation you just have to put on brown cloaks and speak in an inaduble clicking language and have one member hold cards up as subtitles...

for a list of actors i suggest:
Snoop dogg - hes been in gunfights and run from the law before.
P-Diddy - we all remember the incident in the bar.
Trent Reznor - cuz he is completely opposite to the above two and needed for dark comedic influence.
Carrot Top - He needs to be shot because those commercials suck.
Alex Trebec - for historical accuracy.
Sean Connery - just because he is cool.
I wish i had this assignment. My history teacher once told me i brought down the class average... in front of class.
