I completely understand where AO is coming from in not allowing a thread to turn into a flame war. I also think that we should be able to discuss important issues in this world, in a civilized manner, and not get the topic locked right away. This is a great way to expand our own views and learn how other people feel on certain things, it's even better that we can do this with people that share our same intrests; paintball and being computer dorks. I also feel that it's great for the younger memebers to see the opinions of the older people on the boards, and not just the opinions of thier parents and teachers. Which, if they aren't exposed to it, would open thier eyes to the many differances in this world.

I know this has been done before but I just wanted to express my view on this. I also wanted to see if it was possible to implament a system were if a member started to flame in such a topic they would be banned immediatley and the topic locked. I'm talking about a severe first time ban, the first flaming words you type say bye-bye for like a month.

All in all I just really enjoy a good arguement.

HIPPIE! lol.... forget it dude... why does AO have to be the battle ground for this stuff... The mods aren't Kindergarden teachers and this isn't a "I smoke dope because it's kewl, what do you think" board.

btw I was just kidding about the hippie... it was a mature appeal but I'm afraid the ever changing audience would abuse and mistreadt those kind of privalages eventually...

I come to AO relax, get info, get a laugh and sometimes hand out some advice... I don't want to break my head over this, that or the other. If you want to talk to me about something in detail that isn't allowed on this board PM me or use one of the many messenger services I keep running ALL DAY... LITERALLY... and I'll be more then happy to broaden your horizon

Tom and the crew here are firm on this one resolution and all the beging in the world will not change that... so accept it and enjoy AO for what it is... a super kewl place to pick up chicks... ermmm ummm I mean... superkewl place to meet other kewl ppl... LIKE ME!!!!

This same sort of thread has been made before. They seem fairly adament about it. It seems to be how order is maintained though. Freedom given for security.

Calling names at each other back and forth is not a good argument <how it is supposed to be spelled.

The topics that have been disallowed do make for good arguments. Unfortunately they tend to get sort of emotional which degenerates into name calling (at least everytime I enter them they do )
