Hey I just noticed that you are in Maine.
Do you ever ride at sugarloaf?
I know, or at least used to know a bunch of the guys that trained at Carrabasset Valley Academy. A few of them rip. The coaches they have right now are pretty nice guys, they'd probably help you out with any other questions/problems. If you see them tell them a guy from CSA says hi.

ive ridden clickers for a good 4 yrs, and i love them.

a decent board for around $300.. err.. you can go witha k2 (as suggested), or GNU (nice flex, good for all around, or maybe a burton (they have weird holes in the board tho.)

K2 makes good bindings, well, i like them.

          Thanks
Man, step-in's are like crack. Just say no. Go with a good pair of low rise straps.

I started off on a Sims, went to burton, went back to sims.

Right now my favorite boards are M3, Sims, and Never Summer. Gnu makes pretty good stuff, but haven't ridden one in awhile.

I'm assuming you've gone before, but remember not to skimp on your boots. And do not. I repeat. DO NOT buy your boots online. Spend the money, go to a good shop and make sure they fit perfectly. Trust me there's nothing worse then a good day on the mountain ruined by cold, wet, or hurting feet/ankles.

Out of curiosity where do you ride?

Well he didn't ask what was fashionable. Yeah they went "out", but they're still amazingly comfortable for freeriding. In my opinion anyway.

It wasn't about fashion, it was about performance. Many a person has to have after market work done on their ankles because of them. They don't provide enough ankle support, especially for freeriding.

Might have an impasse here. I've broken, sprained, and strained my ankles in hockey, football, wrestling, paintball and rugby. However, even with torqued ankles I've never hurt em in low straps. Especially free riding. I've twisted em in step-in's on a halfpipe, but nothing with straps. Might just be lucky though. Regardless, use your own discretion.

Backdraft - did you like the "super quad" it can go faster than most other quads, don't know why they spent the money for it, they never turn up the throttle

eh I like em but that's just me.

You guy's only board on the east coast? Unfortunately last time I was there I was only able to ski for a short amount of time. Went to killington. On the bright side, A basin and copper mountain are pretty close to denver.

Telluride is my favourite in colorado. I liked the park at breckenridge last time I was there. Aspen had a pretty sweet nightlife. I hate Winterpark.

Good to know that somone of Tom's status seeks "relief" from a sport he helped create. A sport now ruled by a single patent.

Can't say as I've tried Telluride. I've heard good things though. Yeah, Breckenridge is great. Haven't tried the park yet though. Kinda got addicted to Copper a few years back when they first put in the park. Yeah, Aspen's a bit pricey to be riding all the time, but it's an awesome place. Next time you go you gotta check out a place called Jerome's Bar and Eric's Bar. Both pretty sweet places right off of Main.
