Quiet, I liked the superquad yea, it would be nice if they got it going faster but it still flys compared to the other lifts there. Also, how often do you go to sugarloaf??

I was watching some show on my dish and this guy was using a Santa Cruz snow board. I know they make pretty good skate boards, but how are there snow boards?

i ride a Burton powers 158 and i love it... its a pipe board but i use it every where and performs amazingly...

the mention before about burtons wearing out- the top of my board does significanly scratch more than most other boards but the top does not really matter as long and the edge or the bottom is not affected...

for nice all around begginer riding i strongly suggest getting a burton custom... if u can find a shop with last years custom they will usually give it to u for like half off (around $200). i have talked many friends into getting this board and trust me, non of them were one bit unhappy with it.

as for bindings just get whatever feels good to u, same with boots

Nutz...That is NUTS...lol, yea i know that was lame...

That must have been fun to go to france and snowboard though..did you have good time?

Also...Nutz, you mentioned that you ride a Burton powers 180
well, what exactly does the 180 mean?...thats the length of the board right?...what size would i want?...does it go by height or weight?...

            I weight 135 pounds and I'm 5' 9"

Backdraft - Used to go there a couple of times a year when I was competing. They host a continental open every year. Don't know when I'm going next though. Next trip will probably be to Kicking Horse B.C. or Big White. The powder is great at both those places and it will cost me peanuts, I've got friend there and prices are in good ol Canadian Peso's

Shooter - Do you ever cross states into Utah, nightlife sucks but they've got great powder. Brighton and The Canyons are nice, Park City still sucks though.

If you go to Telluride wear sunscreen, it's at high altitude so you'll roast fast. Did you know that sunburn is the number one injury in skiing and snowboarding? I want to know who the pansies are that report getting it.

Back to the subject of lifts, the reason they don't make too many 8 person lifts is that you need a helicopter or specialized crane to put them on. You can't put them on normally because all their weight on one side will topple the lift.

backdraft- i said 158, not 180, and that means 158cm long

im 145 and 5'6" and 158 is a tad big for me so that is about the size u should go with. if u buy the board at a shop they should also help u be fit with the right board so u shouldnt need to worry about it...

the boarding i did in france was great except it was quite icy because it had been very sunny and cold at night and it was at the end of the season... however i did board in switzerland and that was amazing because it snowed nearly 2 feet while i was there and i had so much fresh untouched powder all to my self in the forests and out of bounds... that was amazing

added- a tip for learning, shorter boards are usually a bit easyier to learn on

If you are a true beginner you might want to go a little shorter than that, it'll make it a little easier to turn. Problem is that as you get better you'll start to outperform it. Nutz I'm your size and my all mountain board is 160, I love it.

Nutz where in France did you board?

I was at Val D'isere at the start of this year and it was fantastic. I was at Tignes for the Millenium and that is great too.

8 people lifts are quite common here

The snow here in Europe does seem to vary a bit and since it tends to be warmer we can end up with Ice

Yeah. I'm 5'6" and depending on terrain I ride anything from a 150 to a 165. Smaller is easier to handle when you're learning though.

No I haven't yet, but I'd really like to. I actually had a trip planned to go to park city to ride the olympic halfpipe, but I found out that they destroyed it right after the last rider. Got so mad I cancelled it.

Man who would claim sunburn?!?! Geez. I've dislocated my shoulder a few times and gotten bad scrapes from ice. But that's usually when I'm trying something dumb or riding in the spring in just shorts or something.

Actually, the next thing I really want to do is heliboarding. Found a company in southern colorado that does it for pretty cheap. Might give it a shot next season.

Yeah that's actually what I was originally planning, but a guy here at work said he found a company that'll do heli for about another hundred bucks. Haven't found out how many vertical feet you get in though. If it's not as much I'm definately gonna go the cat route. Have you done it before (cat)? Any tips (other then avalanche beacon)?
