I broke my arm:(

Well, as some of you know, I skate quite a bit, and yesterday went to my local skate park. Whilee there, I was 50-50ing a hand rail down a box when the board slipped out the other side and i landed full impact on my arm and it instantly went numb. When i lifted it up I noticed my arm was shaped like an "S". So tomarrow I have to go into surgery to get pins placed in my arm which really sucks. I completely snapped the bigger bone in my right arm in half, and one of the pieces went somewhat over the other. Now I'll just have to see what happens!

OUCH!!!! When I was 13, I broke my radius and ulna in my arm and had almost the exact same thing happen. they snapped, and went back, thus shortening my arm by almost 2 inches.... Luckily, my arm healed somewhat decently without having to deal with the surgery, but I still have to deal with a pinched nerve from the whole ordeal. That's also the only time I've ever had to be put to sleep. I also had a HUGE problem with swelling, and my arm actually became so swollen around my cast, it started cutting off my circulation to my fingers, so I had to go and get the cast cut off and stay in the hospital for a night to make sure everything was going to be okay... It is the 2nd most horrible experience of my life. I completely feel your pain man... Good luck getting better and all.

(the worst experience and pain of my life was a kidney stone I had last semester... And I tore 90% of everything in my ankle, and that hurt worse than my broken arm, but it also healed quicker. My arm was in a cast for almost 4 months....)

Thats a bummer man, i saw your skating pics that you posted on here and you are really good...Hopefully you will recover soon so you can get back out there on your board!

ya, typing pretty much sucks one handed. the first post in the thread took me about 12 minutes because your arm gets cramps and you have to take breaks every now and then and such...very bad

I broke my arm skateboarding about 2 years ago... I had to be in a full arm cast and everything, it sucked.

People will ask you why you don't quit skateboarding. They just dont get it. The worst thing about being injured is the fact that you cant skate... so quitting would be like being permanently injured.

Anyway, now you have the experience of breaking your arm, and some day you can write to a forum about how much it sucked, but how you eventually got over it and now you dont care anymore. Until then, maybe you can use the time you wont spend skateboarding to learn a new, less active skill. I learned to program in C and Perl (and how to type with one hand )

Just keep telling yourself that its not that bad, because it isn't! Life goes on. I hope you aren't out of paintball for too long, I just hacked my cast down to a short arm so that I could still shoot. You dont catch many bounces off of the cast though

hopefully i don't get a cast that goes above my arm, cause then i will most likely still be able to skate a little.

well i go into surgery in about 3 hours, i'll let you know what happens

ok i get the point... i was the one who said he would laugh if you broke something. well it is sorta funny that i said that and you broke something but OUCH!
