Hi, I'm searching for an airgun that shoots hyperdermic needles for sedation of animals. I've seen them used on TV, but don't know their correct name or manufacturer. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

What fun that could be. Make sure you shoot yourself with it first, that way you can judge if you're being cruel to the animals. It's fun anyways. We did that with a dog collar...those things have some kick.

Go to you local zoo and ask where you can get them locally. I'm not from the U.S. so what I know probably doesn't apply.

Thanks for your advice. I'm trying to find a way to rid myself of racoons that regularly visit my back yard and raise Cain as painlessly as possible without killing them. There is an alert that some may be rabid. Humane traps don't work with my seemingly college-educated critters! Sedation and permanent exile to a distant place is my goal.

Get a cheap airsoft gun that only shoots 160 fps or so.. or higher if you want.. mine shoots 180 and it feels like a fly bite, or a pinch. You might want one that shoots a little faster if you are planning to try to run them off with it. You can get little spring pistols for 10-30 bucks. :) See if you can find a walk in location, and ask them about the FPS of cheap spring guns.

          Personman,
Will the airguns you describe deliver the sedative-loaded hyperthermic needle? I've already peppered their hides with my sling shot. They run off and then return later for dessert! I think I need the gun that I saw on TV knocking down larger critters. Of course, I'll need to load the right dosage of a sedating chemical for the size of a raccoon.

no no no, they shoot little 6mm plastic pellets.. I was just trying to help though, if that isnt what you were looking for.. In fact, I think they make little metal balls you can use for target practice also..
            *nudge nudge*

People PLAY with these guns btw, its a game. So you could get a hard hitter, and you wouldnt hurt them more than we hurt eachother..
