spiderman

hey guys im wondering what you guys think about how the fact that they took out the part with the twin towers in spiderman just because of sept. 11.

personaly i think they should have kept it, it could stand as a memorial or something, i dont know... but either way i was wondering what you guys thought of it.

also if any of you happen to know where i could get a copy of the one with the twin towers that'd be cool (well hey ya'd think that they would have them out there wouldnt you?)

I think they should have left it in. I heard they took it out because they didn't want to offend anyone. (Bad taste) I don't think we should forget the towers, which is what removing it from every movie/tv show is doing. (denial) I mean now are we going to back to every "Friends" episode to take out the towers? Just my two cents.

Oh yes and one other thing.... I think Spidey is going to be awesome!

Yea, I agree, does it really matter that much, I mean if nobody would have told you they were out you wouldn't even have noticed. I mean, you have your opinion, but it's kinda a meaningless thing to argue about.

Actually the director (Sam Raimi) originally was going to remove any image of the towers but later decided to keep some images of them in. He did pull the trailer which the towers played a major roll in but felt that if subtle images in the movie would not offend the general public. Some producers have decided to leave the images in their movies and some have taken it out. Although I hear the episode of the Simpsons going to the towers is officially retired. It is tragic what happened but to try and make sure all producers remove them from their film will not make us forget. I don't believe any of us ever will.

That's sad to hear about the Simpsons retiring the Twin Towers one... But hopefully the Spidey DVD should have the deleted scenes, I can't see why they would not.

I just don't see what is so offending about seeing them. I mean so what, Kurt Cobain died, does that mean we should all throw away our Nirvana music and memorabilia. You can't change the past, so why does it matter..?

Langrage, I was just making a point. I know that Kurt Cobain is much different *POOF*. I was just stating that just because a tragedy happens doesn't mean that we should forget everything about it. Like you said, we should learn from our mistakes.

I guess the film makers wanted to play it safe. Our country has gone litigation crazy and I'm sure had they left the towers in the movie & in the trailers I'm sure someone would have sued for emotional distress. By removing it, they save themselves the trouble of having to deal with any problems relating to the Twin Towers.
