        "Trekies play paintball"

You will find out who the trekies are that join you in your "Game". It is not a game to us. That is why we will win.
How does that sound? Am I now sounding unfriendly enough?
LOL This whole thing is alot of fun. Don't you agree?

Hi Augie Dog! What a nice thread! I noticed several people have only seen the Next Generation movies...I encourage you to watch the REAL ST, the original series... You'll be hooked for sure!

Bunkerhugger - you posted a question about spyders verses rainmakers... what are those? We need some clarification...

I was wondering about the spell check thing. Do they really charge for it? That's too bad. I was hoping for one on our site, but if they charge, forget it!

This is a really nice board! My complements to the chef!

^^^ you like Deep sleep Nine the best. I like the original better than DS9, and I hate the original. I like NG the best, but I'm a Star Wars fan through and through. I think the thrawn trilogy should be made into a movie, or movies. Wow I sound like a huge dork, I'm really not I swear.

No sir, I never once thought of you as dork. (Look, anyone who plays with nuclear bombs for a living needs to be placated)

Anyway, I like them all, except maybe ENT (juries still out on that one). They each have something they bring to the table.

TOS- Come on, who doesn't like the "beam down, throw down" style of explortion. Besides, its fun to watch the nameless ensign die

TNG- Classic, all the way. And a complete reversal of roles: Hot head first officer, diplomatic Captain.

DS9- This one had the most charecter development by far. And besides, there was a war going on so starfleet wasn't concerend with studying some primortial soup.

VOY- I think I know why they started this series. They simply got bored. On DS9, you see the same people, the smae races. They wanted to have some foun and create new species. Besides, with the Dominion War in DS9, Star Trek had gone away from exploration.

The movies are easy to catagorize: The even ones are good, the odd ones stink.Ex: Star Trek 2= :) Star Trek 5 =
That being said, I consider ST2 the best Star Trek movie followed by ST8 First Contact. And there is no arguement that Star Trek 5 was the worst Star Trek movie ever.

ST Generations and The Undiscovered Country were both pretty good also IMO. I have yet to really watch Voyager or Enterprise, especially now that my TV is broken . The only episode of Enterprise i have seen is the one where they meet Ferengis for the first time.

Hey Load, sorry I didn't respond sooner. No,I have never actually played. I know a guy who plays and was invited once but couldn't go that weekend. It sounds like a lot of fun though and after reading a lot of the posts here I am starting to get anxious to try the game myself. What is a good way to get started? Borrow the equipment and actually get into a game?,or start out with target practice with the gun? It looks like the Trekkies are inspiring some of you to get more into Trek and you AO guys are inspiring some of us to try paintball. This is getting fun! So Load, you are watching the new Enterprise show? I don't like it myself. Most of us at Williamshatner.com prefer the original series. What do you think of the new Enterprise?:)

The best way to get started is to find a good day for your you and your bud to go and well ...go. If he has any equipment to borrow that will save you a few bucks but the field should have everything you need to rent. They'll give you a safety briefing and then try and have fun. Expect to get some bruises and get shot up a bit the first few games. The main thing I can tell you is to keep moving if you can. Don't stay in any one place too long or you can get flanked. You can also pick up a few magazines at your local book store. A good one for beginners is Action Pursuit Games. It has some good articles for guys just starting out.

As far as Enterprise, it stared pretty good but has slumped a bit. It had some cool things going for it and I liked the idea of a group of guys just starting out and dealing with all the problems of first going into deep space. It quickly fell into the old pattern of stumbling around through space dealing with issues on a show to show basis. I tend to like drawn out ongoing plots rather than chopped up plot-lets. I still like all the Treks, though.

I've never played paintball either, but am seriously thinking about it. Is shooting paintball gun anything like shooting a gun? I've been a gun collector for years, and used to hunt. Is it all team stategy? If you just go somewhere for the afternoon, are you assigned to a team? Is it a game for adults only, or can younger people play? All rifles or handguns also? (I prefer handguns)
I noticed many of you are from Jersey. Same here. Where in Jersey do you play?

                        Me again........

It's a bit like shooting a gun but the balls don't fly as accurately or straight as bullets. They can wobble a bit and at certain ranges you have to aim up a bit like archery. You get the hang of it pretty quick.

As far as rifle's and pistols they have both. Most are a little closer to pistols but many prefer to shoulder the tank like a fifle butt to keep the gun steady.

Anyone can play but those under 18 have to have their parents sign for them. I would recommend snagging a magazine like APG from a bookstore and flipping through that.

                          w00t!

                          me <-- Loves Star Trek

I haven't seen too many of the movies, but just remember that all of the even numbered movies (ex, 2, 6, First Contact) rock. I love all 3 that I mentioned.

THe odd numbered movies generally aren't as good, but some people like 'em anyway.

Personally, I'm starting to like the new "Enterprise" the best. I liked TNG ( how could a trekkie not?), DS9 had some good stuff goin' with the Dominion war and stuff, TOS was just kinda too cheesy for me, and VOY's first couple seasons just BLEW entirely. The last 2 seasons, or so, were pretty cool tho.

I JUst like the fact that Enterprise is BEFORE kirk, so the technology isn't as advanced. It also helps them put together good scripts.

For example, the one where they land a shuttle pod on the surface of the comet so that they can study it; The pod crashes down into a ravine, and they can't pull it up using the cable thingie.

well, in TNG or something, they'd just Transport 'em out of the pod. THe fact that they COULDN'T do that, made it a whole lot more interesting.

They also added a lot more humor into it.

Oh yeah, and they use any excuse they can to get T'pol into a tank top. w00t!

Enterprise is OK, but I see too many continuity errors. Since I am an old geek, Star Trek is still the best. No captain's better than Kirk. TNG and DS9 are definitly good, VOY was garbage, except my kids like it.
Anyway, nice to see you're as friendly as most over at the Shatner camp have been saying. They're still going to kick #%@!
One point I have to disagree with, T'Pol's OK, but Hoshi is hot.
