Why hasn't paintball been majorly televised yet?

I would imagine it would bring in a crapload of viewers if a station like ESPN or ESPN2 or something did a regular paintball show. Why hasn't this been done? Maybe they could air tournaments and such. Ah well ... just a little "what if" question

Well, I mean, it makes sense. If I can watch rednecks run around on TV shootings deer, I should be able to see a paintball game. Anyway ... I'm still rambling

Been discussed many times on AO... if you used the SEARCH feature you would have found many Threads about it...

But here are a couple for you...

(this one deals with ESPN directly)
Paintball Talk is the main forum for Automags.org. Here is where we talk about the sport of paintball in general and make announcements relating to the forum and website.

And there are many other great threads. You might try a search using the words "paintball TV". Enjoy.

Paintball used to be on TV, but they got sued because they did not air it at some time. I doubt it's ever going to be on again. It wouldn't get enough ratings because it's just not appealing to the general public.

IMO, i doubt it, people who have not seen what tournament paintball is like will be like what the bleep is this? Many of my relavtives and family members have seen my paintball videos such as PUSH. I was very into it, most them were like ok... Honestly it's just not exciting if you don't know what's going on.

i think in years to come it will be as popular as other sports like hockey and such maybe not in our life time but look at how it has became more and more popular in the last 3 years. i was playing since about 96 and noone was into it but now everyone plays and it is becoming huge.

take a guess at how much money us rednecks spend yearly on our hunting stuff...

hunting dollar figures in terms of monies spent begins with "B" as in Billions.

Paintball although a wickedly fast growing sport counts it monies spent with an "M" as in millions.

that'll give you some idea of why there are hunting shows on and not paintball.

I'd love to be able to turn on ESPN and watch a weekly in-depth half hour show on the sport of paintball. Hell, PigTV does it on the net, there's obviously enough material out there. Unfortunately, the times that I have seen it on tv as a tourney, it wasn't that impressive. Cameras weren't in the best places to record hits and half the time you couldn't even SEE the players. Maybe with speedball, S'up Air field and the like would be better suited to viewing on tv. Use bright colored fills like orange and yellow and maybe the hits would be easier to see too....
