Anyone know which countries Israel has an alliance with? I can't find information on that anywhere on the net. I've been trying for like three weeks.

As much as I like Chaotic's Definition, I probably need like countries that would send armed forces to defend Israel in case of attack as well as declare war on the country that went after Israel.

I'm fairly sure the US has something like that with them, but is there any other countries?

Israel is full with a bunch of warlords! My old boss is from Israel and man, the stories I heard from this guy. Israelies are awesome and tough as nails. In 2 days of enemies invading and attacking, they once caught more prisoners than the entire population of their own country! I can't remember how it goes but something like 3 countries armies were marching in Israel and the Israelie army hit them from behind, shutting down supply lines and surrounding the armies till they starved then released them all.

I just completed a massive report/presentation on the Israeli Air Force... so you're in luck.

As far as basic Alliances, you can look no further than the United States. We are the only country who's constitution vests an interest in protecting Democracy overseas... Israel being the only Democratic nation in the Middle East, we have since felt the need to uphold their ideals since the country was created in May of '48.

Although we havnt committed operationally... military advisors, political support, and technology have been our means of helping the Jewish state. The IAF is pretty much flying all American Aircraft... C-130s, F-15I, F-16I Barak, A-4 Skyhawks, Hughs MD-500s, Bell AH-1s... the IDF ditched their own Merkava MBT and are now exclusively operating the M-1A2 Abrahms and a reactive-armor variant of the M-60 Patton, as well as a few variants of the M-113 APC...

The only real combative equipment of original design are the IAI Galil and Uzi...

Back on the subject though, the Isralis were mostly helped in the early days by outside corporations funded by Jewish business people... they bought the IAF old WW2 Monoplanes. Since the UN was responsible for the creation of the state of Israel, the 1950s and 1960 saw support from a few of the Democratic NATO countries as well... France sold Israel Dassault Mysteres, and the British hooked them up with Meteors and old Spirfires...

Great Britain and Germany (ironically enough), have pledged support financially and militarily. I think Cyprus has agreed to limited support also.

AutoMaggot; the IDF most definately still use their Merkava, and have recently up-gunned it to 120mm from 105mm (Merkava MKIII). Those tanks you saw cruising through Jenna and Bethlehem on TV were Merk's. The Abrams, at 65-72 tons, is too heavy for the middle east's Biblically old, fragile streets. The old M60A3's are nearly all phased out, and are used for training and reserve duty (there hasn't been any new M60 parts made since the mid-late '70's).

Hey Army, was just watching cnn...I think Cyprus may now remaqin neutral...however, they (Israel) belongs to the UN...so they have international support (providing that members pledge their armed forces). But, like it was stated, Israel really doesnt need international support. They have an excellent intelligence network...look at their 6 day war with Egypt. They knew, through their own high ranking contacts, that Egypt planned on attacking them. So, they did a preemptive strike, taking out %90 of Egypts air force before they took off! They knew what the pilots ate on a daily basis...hell, they knew the distance to the mess hall! Their spies blend in much better than the local populace than a European would...and an effective intelligence network, for a nation, is invaluable, often preventing war, or limiting the number of casualties. Well, thats my thoughts.
One more thing...Israel's army is very professional...and are more than capable of handling themselves. They have a good officer corps, proffesional NCO corps, and top notch training. So, I think they will hold their own.

thats becuase alot of the people are old enough to rember the holocost and will fight to the death to keep it from happening again... the isreali people have always been tough. i mean look at the holidays... The synopsis of a lot of Jewish holidays is "they tried to kill us, we won, lets eat."... and the thing is if you were to attack the country you would have to kill every man woman and child cause they have came so far and dont want to loose now.

For those not in the know...Israel was created as a nation-state, separate from Palestine, in the 50s or 60s...i have a bad memory sometimes . They ceceeded for a number of reasons, chief among them, they are predominantly Jewish, and as a result have a different gov't. system. They are surrounded on all sides by muslim states...however, not all of them are extremists. Palestine wants the West Bank, Israel wants it for religious reasons...this is one of the reasons for fighting. Another is their different belief systems. Neither belief is wrong, unless you force it onto another person, or kill innocent people in the name of God or whomever. Israel has done this as well...as Shartley pointed out. Research the Red Brigade...the people responsible for the murder of Israelis in the 72 Olympic games in Munich. Israel assasinated the people who did this...but, they also inadvertantly killed innocent people too...without apologizing. One, in particular, was a Morrocan waiter, who they believed was a ringleader. They were wrong. Israel never apologized.
They do do a lot of underhanded things (Shartley, I am in the know ) such as kidnapping, extortion, etc. Globally, these are frowned upon. But, they do it to save their nation, so alot of countries turn a blind eye.
Kinda off topic...watching the news, they say we must be more vigilant in our defense against terrorism. Well, we cant prevent terrorism from hitting here. Look at Israel. They have been dealing with it for 40 yrs...and they still have a problem. We must adopt a more aggressive attitude towards dealing with it. We need to start mimicking Israel in their dealings with these situations. Until our country, as a people, realize that being "pc" will ALWAYS put you behind the 8-ball...we will forever be retroactive in dealing with this, not proactive.

What? The Holocaust has nothing to do with why they are so tough. That happened to Jews outside Israel.

shartley isreal didnt exist durring WW2 so technicaly EVERY BODY was out side of isreal.

and im not saying they are the good guys... to me they are mearly the lesser of two evils. what i am trying to convey is the fact that they have had hard times and are dont want to go through them again... and i know my world history surprisingly well.

What makes the Israelis record so intriguing, is that they have done it... and most other nations just "talk" it.
