    Big Goverment Conspiracy

i always thought this was funny...

for all those who collect the bi-centinials, sacajawatshername 1$ gold piece, state quarters, susan b anthonies, ect... DONT!

all those listed above are coins people collect for the reason that they are cute and thats all. the goverment puts these out so people look at them and take one out of circulation.

im pretty sure every person has at least one of the coins listed above just for the fact that they are cute. how many sacajawatshername coins do you see circulation... none. when someone sees one and takes it out of circulation the goverment just made 1$. they are currently making millions if not billions off of people who think they are cute.

its a really good idea that they had and it seems to work

I don't know if it's a real "conspiracy", but you can bet that the gov't knows people will collect the new coins. Same deal with the post office and stamp collectors. It's a small percentage of the overall sales, but it adds up I'm sure.

So does anybody think the USPS creates those commemorative stamps and such for the fun of it? If they didn't make extra money off of it why wouldn't they just make a few simple designs? Elvis stamps anyone? Were they needed? Not by me. Not a conspiracy, but IMO a small cash cow.

Government telescopes that can zoom into 32mm with highest resolution, and advanced choppers with thermal imaging cameras to detect marijuana growing lamps, people, cars that have recently been turned off, etc. Are no match for my lead painted house ;p.

Zumina, that was awesome. BTAutoMag, one potential problem I see is that the costs of producing these coins is close to their face value. So the government wouldn't be making much, if any, on people saving them. Just my $0.04

lets all think loooong and hard about money and what it is..... money is paper, silver, gold, copper, etc etc theses things TRULY are not worth anything.... but the goverment says that a thousand dollars is a thousand dollars and you can buy up to a thousand dollars worth of goods with it right? my point is money is actually just stuff that is made valuable by the guys in DC but we cant live without it we need it even though all it is paper, gold, silver, copper, etc etc thats just my opnion on money

I know! That bugs me sometimes. When I am low on cash, I just wish I could buy some paintballs or something with my neighbors sheep or something,

ok joker, money is paper silver gold etc. but that is what its made of. a trophy can be related in a similar aspect, its made sometimes of inexpensive materials, but its what it represents that matters. the physical value will more or less stay the same, but the representational value will change, ie: inflation. it is worth something because of the gold reserve that the us has, not because the people in DC 'say so' and because the government takes money out of circulation before they put more in, makes our inflation rates relatively slow, compared to say, germany in the early 1900's. at one point a 5 mark(sp?) note could get you quite a bit, but then counterfeit money was put into circulation in germany to drive up inflation and attempt to destroy their economy. after a few years, the same 5 mark notes were being used to start fires in people furnaces. so money IS worth something, although investing your money innto something tangible can be better, just not as handy

im still trying to figure out how the government "makes" a dollar when you keep one. the fact that there is more money in circulation, in someones wallet or in a safe, contributes to inflation.

by NOT spending those "cute" coins the government is also losing thousands in taxes. for example if $1 billion in coins is currently being hoarded (your number) the government could be losing in the MILLIONS of dollars in uncollectable taxes.
