The government utilizes other ways to control the economy. Keeping a pretty coin would hardly put a dent in anything.

The government tries to maintain the ebb and flow of the economy through interest rates and bond sales along with government spending... well its not exactly the government doing this... that's the scary part.

Keep your pretty coin or throw it in a fountain. The government would prefer that you spend it so they could tax you on it as well as keep them from having to replace it.

Yeah, I think about 1975 we stopped using the reserve, now money's value is based on the people's trust in it. Hold on guys this just in: You don't have to collect some stupid coin or bill just because it's new.

And if you didn't know, there is a government program out there that invades our privacy by searching through emails and such for words such as 'bomb' and 'president'.

Actually, it's an FBI "box" called carnivore that is in every ISP's little data central. It also looks for words like "osama bin laden" and "terrorism". But, I think a few years back, an FBI agent realized his e-mail was being looked through also and deleted all the files carnivore had collected, files which could have gotten Osama Bin Laden captured years before 9/11 happened. Enough about that.

From what I understand the government does not gain a dollar everyone buys one of those Sacajewae (slaughtered that name) coins. It costs money to make them, also. probably around 75 cents. So a quarter for every Sacajewae coin bought is not too bad, right? Well, you also have to take in the fact that the government even taxes you when buying money. So you spend around $1.07 for a dollar and they make a grand total of ABOUT 32 cents.

Err Sorry for ranting (this probably makes no sense.)

Yea, Carnivore is a scary thing...Its not so much of a "box", but a program installed into major ISP's that can systematically and symultaneously search every IP Address connected to that particular server...as well as every type of incoming and outgoing electronic communication in existence.

Remember, just because you're paranoid, doesn't mean they're not after you...
